Depends on the C3. I saw some beautiful ones down in Ocean City NJ last year that I would trade my C5 for in a heartbeat if they offered me an even trade.
Once the c6 grand sport becomes a little more affordable I'll probably sell my C5.

Ok, well I just took a look on my local Craigslist, and there wasn't a single car I'd want to own. And certainly not any of them at the prices they are asking. Wow. 78 pacecar, with no working A/C, 19500?? There's some real ghettomobiles for $10k. I just laugh and shake my head. And one in really nice condition, I can only guess what people would ask for one of them because there aren't any listed. It was funny how few listings there were. 2 for c6's, an 05 for 32K and an 08 for 38K. Both base cars. Some C4's that didn't look bad, but I'd have to get one of them cheap, and it would have to have been cared for pretty well before I'd own it. And amazingly enough, I didn't see a single C5 for sale.

It depends on the year. Id rather have a 73 or earlier c3 than a c5. Sure the c5 is a better car, but the c3 is much better looking and can always be upgraded.

Its rare that I see anything worthwhile on craigslist. Try cars.com or ebay or the c3 for sale section here. There are plenty of nice reasonably priced c3s out there.

I'll be a few years before I can get cars to just sit around. Well, any more of em anyway... I have one now I never drive, and another wintering over. Pretty much need my head examined. I'm out of space.

Then, there's a lot of deals on C5's out there, (as the op alludes to), they're just not near me. This area of PA simply has no Vette's. And it's no wonder. The two closest dealerships here in Montoursville and Lewisburg are both ... Umm, I'll be nice and say out of their minds. Is it any wonder there's no Vettes, we have nowhere to buy em within 100 miles. I tried both places last year and they both convinced me I would never buy a car there.

The Op has a point though, there sure are a lot of people coming and going on the C5 forum. Even in winter...

Because THEY DON'T MAKE THEM ANYMORE. I'd take a 68 or 69 427ci convertible any day and twice on Sunday over any c5 I could ever have. You can't be serious, right?

Men must have been shorter in the 70,s
Anyone else ever had this problem in an older Vette?

My parents have a 73 and used to have a 66 and an 81. I never had that problem in any of them. But im also quite a bit smaller at a thin 5'10" 185 lbs. My dad always has complained of the harsh ride in the older vettes but that never bothered me. Maybe im not old enough yet. The ride in my z is a little harsh too with stiffer shocks and sways, lowered and not a lot of cushion in the race buckets.

Oh, I'm quite serious.

My office manager retired last year at 75. Good man, quite a character to talk with. I remember one of his quips about antiques, "We had antiques when I was a kid, that's why I buy new stuff!". There are folks who think antiques are wonderful, and there's those who could care or less. I'm the latter. I already have an old car, I bought it brand new 20 years ago, and I don't have time to mess with that. I'd like to do a ground up restoration to it, (it's not in need of a whole lot), but when I'm done, what will I have? A 20 year old car that I don't drive...

Yea, I'm 6'2 or 3, 170 (so fairly thin) and I still look at some of these cars and think I'm going to be claustrophobic if I get in there for long. The last C3 I drove belonged to my brother, a 71 LT1, at the time I thought it was a very fun car. Today, I'm not sure what I'd think. I'm really not.

I was at Carlisle last summer and when I looked at some of the cars, I really wondered how a person could drive it that far. And, to my eyes, not all C3's are the same. Some look like there's considerably more interior room than others. Some look like a toy car to me nowadays. The mid 70's cars especially look small inside. Is that just me? Are they all basically the same?

Oh, and, is there a 4 speed C3 left in the world? I think every one I've seen for sale is an automatic... Blahhh...

I had a friend come by today with his 81. It's a 4 speed. This thing only has 56,000 miles on it. A very sweet ride, but I'm partial to chrome bumper/convertibles. The later c3's didn't have to many 4 speeds, that's for sure.

Shoot, my 2002 vette is my modern car! Here's my tool'in round town vehicle. I say, the older the better!!
