Now, granted, this would take a good bit of work and fabrication, but if you make a set of lights that filled in the horizontal slits in the bumper and sat flush with the exterior of the bumper, that'd look badass. Since then slits shrink in size as they go in, you could do a screw-down' method to clamp them in place from the inside.
Here's the little idea I had in mind all along. I'm going to lay it up in fiberglass as soon as I get this customer's transmission fixed tomorrow. The pics really don't show how well I got the edges to fit here so bare with the in progress pics please.

yeeees
I really thought I was the only one who's been thinking about this very idea for years now. I knew there had to be a somewhat low cost way of filling in the hole to clean up the back a bit and easily removable to revert back to stock.
I'd be very interested in something like this so long as the finished product is what I'm thinking of. Clean, as flush with the rest of the bumper as possible, with very minimal gaps and shallow mounting for the license plate avoiding a deep well appearance.
That's were I thought you were going with this mod, sounds like a good idea to me. Please post pics when you get it finished, I would love to see the end results
Sorry guys, no progress on it today. A simple slave cylinder job on a Camaro turned into an all day affair once we found needle bearings in the bellhousing. The ONLY way to get one of those damn things out is with Autozone's blind hole puller tool. It took 5 straight minutes of slide hammering to get it out though.
I'll be laying it up in fiberglass in the morning and should have some progress pics soon.
Oh...I have a new idea on the reverse lights. I've always wanted them to be "in" the vent area and protrude outward so they can be seen and I think I found a very bright solution today. Off in the corner of my garage I had some round polypropelyne tube left over from another project and what do you know...it fits in the holes. I'll be trying some variation of that soon.
I like the lights in that spot I'd fill in all 4 slots. Not sure what can be done with the old reverse light area. The fiberglass fill in seems to be on the right track. If someone wanted to get a crazy you cut out vent holes in that area and fill with mesh. Maybe someone could photoshop that?
Finally got around to fiberglassing it and getting some layers of filler going. This will take a bit longer than I expected but the result should be awesome.
If I do this again I will start it in fleece like a speaker box that way I have less to fill.
