Well said C5-pewter.......locust indeed.

I heard a lady guest on FOX state that what is needed to stop this Republican-caused "recession" is more union controlled work places and more government money injection.

I left the UK 30 years ago to escape this crap.........I only delayed the inevitable.

They know not what they do!

I find it telling that people who come here from elsewhere, LEGALLY, have greater concern for our country than most native born, who take our country’s blessings for granted. I was American born and raised in in Hamburg Germany. (German father - Irish American Mother)

As Margaret Thatcher said, and I paraphrase: “Socialism is fine, until you run out of OTHER PEOPLE’S MONEY.”

Then there is Winston Churchill’s admonition, and again I paraphrase: A person under 30 who is not a liberal has no heart, and a person over 30, who‘s still a liberal has NO Brains. (Don’t remember exactly what age group her referred to so I made up 30 - the point is made regardless)

This great man once also observed that: “The further one looks back into history, the further one looks into the future.” Winston Churchill.

Regards GRT

I don't want to stray from the initial theme of this thread, so this will be my last comment on the subject, but I just cannot help myself......

I don't understand why the "People" want to exchange the very principals that caused this land to be the best country in the world in recent history, to those of proven doomed, damned and ruined examples of the past and present!

It's design has been slowly leached into our system over the last 100+ years, but I foolishly believed that the American people would not fall for such transparent nonsense, and yet before my very eyes I see not just leanings to such principals, but outright consent and vehement support.

Like a cancer it will spread, and the People will be late in realizing its true inevitable conclusion.

To quote the Great Winston Churchill..........

"Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery".

p.s. C5-Pewter.......I just love those Pewter 'Vettes, don't know why they stopped that color choice.

Very well said.

Obama and his liberal friends have done everything in their power to destroy the country. He has four more years to get it done. I worry about the young children's future.

Florida sounds like a very friendly state. If only we could get the humidity down in Florida, it would be ideal. There is no perfect place to live, so we have to assess all the factors and make a decision on where to live. Being old and retired, we could move anywhere.
We had a ranch in Oregon, and purchased a new 2006 truck, of which we paid $185 registration fees for four years. When we sold the ranch, we registered the truck in Kalifornia, for $600 per year. We now have a 2012 truck, and will be registering it at who knows how much.
The high taxes and fees, are not the worst of it. It is the continuing reduction in individual rights that have me worried for our country.
I would like to put long tube headers on the Vette, but not legal in Kalifornia.

Hmmm, doesn't effect me with my 97' C5. But does with my 02' Ram truck. I'm not sure what the deal is. Sounds like a good thing. Not that we still get tested, but that it will reduce the cost of the test and reduce the time for the test. Plug in, check the readings, pay and go. Rather than pulling it up on the dyno, inserting the sniffer into a polished exhaust tip with no care if it scratches it or not!!!
Am I missing something here? Isn't this new law better than what was there before?

THE WHOLE POINT OF THIS THREAD!

They announce with big fanfare AB2289 and then they don't implement it and tell anybody!

Don't go putting on all your non CARB stuff thinking all that is gonna happen is a plug in and pass/fail.

Full up inspection and dyno ride.

But likewise, I don't think you'd enjoy Philadelphia, or parts there-in. I mean even I won't go in there, and with my gun.

But California, I realize the smog is a constant problem. So why doesn't the state impose logical laws or perhaps i should say Mandates. Like making all Post office local vehicles electric opropanean powered. And truck must have theiDieselil engine be upgraded to a level where it does noexpelll so mucsulfurer and smoke. I happen to know for a fact thaDieselsal engines can run on ultra losulfurer and smokeless exhaust. I've been in the shop read thtechnologygy and apositiveve it can be done. The down-side is the cost.

OK, Mr. Obama, you and your EPA want to clean up the smog, put your money where your mouth is. Get truckers LOW -Cost loans to have their engine retro fitted. And ALL new diesel engines must pass the 2020 EPA standards today. That leaves the average motorist, who has been raped year in and year out with ever increasing rules to cut emissions with new rules and regulations so much you need to be both a lawyer and a CPA to jfigureguer out what the hell this years laws are going to be. The EPA now is going to increase the alcohol, or ethanol amount from 10% to 15% which in my 2007 Pontiac owners manual that it MUST NOT be fueled with any fuel having more than 10% ethanol. So I guess I just put the crap in till the engine locks up or I keep buying the 16 bottles of "Lucas Ethanol-Free" fuel additive.
I see you don't know much about the CARB laws for trucks who have to do business in Kalifornia. They have the tightest restrictions in the country. It's going to put a lot of independents out of work because not all of us have $150,000.00 to spend on a CARB complient truck. For $30,000.00 I can get my 3406E Cat engine retrofitted to pass. I'm going to need a loan for this since 90% of my work is on the Kalifornia side. That's OK, I guess, because the cost will be passed on to CALTRANS and the contractors. Guess who they pass that on to?
