Default Those with popup headlights

I'm guessing they're early C6s but regardless, when I see one with the lights up but not on, why is that? Something broken?

Those would be the C5 models. I bet if you go to that forum, you will get all the answers.

Yeah no C6's had pop-ups.

Sometimes they will pop-up when you use your fogs (or parking lights) if the gear is going bad. They can even do this if you have an aftermarket HID kit installed.

If you turn the lights on and then turn the switch to parking lghts, the Headlights will turn off but stay up.

The C5 pop-ups have a standard feature that allows you to clean and service the lenses. Turn you headlights on - they pop up. THEN twist the column switch back one notch and they turn off but stay up.

Hope that helps.

I think most people who drive around with the lights up but not on just have something broken with them and haven't gotten around to fixing it.

I see it quite often on older miatas and firebirds, not sure I've seen a C5 like that around here

That's more likely the case.

Unless of course they are just die-hard about flash-to-pass or being able to warn others about a LEO speed trap.

Also, people who drive their C5's in a very cold climate will temporarily disable the motors and have them up all the time. This will prevent damage in situations of ice buildup or snow. In the 80's, I had an Acura Integra and it was equipped with a winter switch which would keep the popups up all the time in the winter.

Default lazy headlight

my 2000 drivers side headlight is making a horrendous noise when activated up or down. i pulled it and activated it unhooked. it runs flawless for 6 seconds while the other side only takes about 2 seconds. Does anyone have any suggestions on this problem?

how are the headlight motors replaced. i was able get it unhooked but there was almost no room to get to the three bolts. is the headlight supposed to be disassembled prior to taking the motor out?

Take the headlight out first. It makes things very easy.
