I have a 2002 Z06, just changed from standard to a Kirban Kwick Shifter. Has anyone had a Kirban and changed to another short throw they liked better? Which one? Why?
I have a Kirban and am happy with it for the price I paid. I want to compare to the Hurst. I've compared to the Ripper and they're pretty similar except the Ripper has a slightly shorter throw and requires maybe a tad bit more effort.
I added the two color shifter boot. The shifter handle was a direct bolt-on. No modifications were needed to install. Only side affect is the handle is slightly longer than the stock boot. The two color boot allowed me to cover the 1" of the handle. I really like it.
I have had all 3 shifters available, installed on my car. I like the Hurst and B&M best, but the Kirban is a good shifter as well. The B&M seems shorter than the others, but requires the most effort to shift(as compared to stock). The Hurst seems smoother with a little less effort. Noise is minimal with either of those. The Kirban is short shifting also, but requires the least amount of effort to shift. Thats the biggest difference with the Kirban, effort. It is the easiest shifting shifter of them all, but, it seems to be the noisiest of them all. Kirban does have a fix for the noise though. Noise emitted with any of these shifters can be reduced by simple mods and or careful installation.
