Got a couple questions to ask you all. I m looking at some new wheels for my 98 vert. Really like some of the c6 style wheels, like the standard 5 spoke and the grand sport style. Repros or original, gumbys, just can't decide. I do want chrome. Just looking at putting my own touch to one of the most fantastic cars made but don't want to go backwards. I do love the looks of my vette but, want that extra kick. You all are so helpful with your words of wisdom is why I would like to hear what you say. Thanks so much and hope I can also help sometime.
Thanks for the responses. Yes, which ones to get. I know it's what I think looks best, but you all have such great ideas. Man there are some awesome cars on this site. I still keep going tot the grand sport wheels. But, 18 19's or go with the original size. I don't want it to look goofy.
Just my opinion but the GS wheel doesn't look as good on a C5 as a C6. If you like them just make sure you see some on a C5 before you decide. I think the Cup wheels or Spyders look good and I like the C6 5 spoke too. JWmotoring.com and House of Wheels both have good service!!

I would do 18/19 or if you can 19/19. The smaller sizes don't look near as good.
The best advice I can give you is; buy the best wheels you can afford. Do not cheap-out when it comes to aftermarket wheels. Just remember that your wheels and tires are probably the most important component on your car. It is your only connection to the road. If you can, avoid the Chinese knockoffs unless they are backed by a reputable vendor who will stand behind them and honor the warranty, no questions asked. Also, the cheaper the wheel, the heavier it will be. A couple of pounds of added wheel weight translates into a considerable amount of centrifugal weight increase and it can negatively affect the car's performance and handling characteristics.
You guys are awesome. Thanks much for your inputs. Sounds like the 18 19 ,s will be the choice. I do have an opportunity to buy a used set of the 5 spoke c6 style that has less than 6000 miles on them. Now to get rid of a set of real good eagle run flats and my wheels. Thanks again for all your help. If anyone has any pics of a c5 with grand sport wheels please post. Rock on.
All the wheels mentioned are heavy knock offs with no QC. Poor quality aluminum manufactured in none other than China. At least buy American if not forged.

Were you reading my mind as you were typing? My thoughts EXACTLY. And you worded it much better than I could have.
There are plenty of threads here with great wheel examples.
the "Search" function is a wonderful tool. Especially messing around with the "advanced search"
I picked up a set of oe gumbys for a very good price. Question is, will i need a 1/4 inch spacer for the rear for clearence or do you think i will be ok. They are the original sizes of 18 8.5 and 19 10. I will have a set of hankook v12's in original sizes coming also in the next few days. I do believe that 245 40zr 18's and 285 35zr 19's are the stock size for the rims. Any thoughts or comments will be gratefully appreciated. I haven't ordered the tires yet. Thanks to you all.

You will need more than a 1/4 inch. The offset for c6 is much different than c5. Youll want an inch to an inch and a quarter adapter for the rear.
