Hi all, I have been attending Corvettes at Carlisle for 5 years now and I feel the need for more. Been thinking about a trip to Bowling Green to see the Vette Museum. I could use some pointers or tips or any info that might ease such a trip as I have never been there. I am open to when to go and where to stay, so all help is greatly appreciated and I can think of no better place to ask for help than this great forum, I am locate in Erie PA so this would not be an extened trip but a nice leisurely drive and I am in no hurry as I am retired, thanks in advance
I'm thinking about hitting the CM as well. I'm not really into mega-gatherings though. Small groups I'm ok with but all of the
hoopla and me-hem that goes with mega-gatherings I find not even in the realm of enjoyment.
Erie huh? Born and early childhood in Conneaut Lake and moved to the big city of Meadville in 5th grade. Been in NY for 39 years but NW PA's STILL home.
If you are interested in some action after touring the NCM you might want to google Beech Bend Park. Check out their racing schedule for the weekend you plan to come. It's maybe 10-15 miles from the NCM and they have some excellent drag racing.
A visit to the museum is great at anytime, but if you can couple it with the plant tour the entire experience is well worth it.
Recently read that the plant is closed for tours until sometime in the fall, but they do have at least one special tour set for about 150 people through the museums bash in April. Check their website if your thinking about that time frame for tour details.
Since you are discussing the NCM,does anyone purchase the raffle tickets for Corvettes, and has anyone on this forum ever won a Corvette from the raffles?
Come to the Corvette Homecoming this summer. It's over a few days with all sorts of things going on. Check the museum website for further to help you decide.

Have fun when you get there.
I've been there if Mid July......100 degrees and Kentucky humid but there's a great little motel right across the street from the museum with a great pool and restaurant. Your admission lets you run across the street for a dip and then return for some more museum touring later in the day......awesome displays !
Was there 2 weeks ago. As an NCM member you get free admission. Great displays, amazing place. The folks that work there couldn't be nicer. Stayed in Nashville visiting my daughter. It's only an hour south with a lot to offer. You'll really enjoy yourself.

Anytime is a great time to visit the NCM - always cool things to see. If you can time your visit with some other big event going on at the museum, all the better. The plant tour is another bonus but as mentioned, the tours will not resume until later this year.
And I will echo the comment to join the museum - great organization.
We went last fall.... Excellent experience but I would wait until the factory is open for tours again.... You will thank me it is an awesome experience!! We stayed at the holiday inn express in bowling green.... I think it was 1 exit south of the museum. Will always stay there they are awesome! Even allow you to use their hose around back to wash your vette if you ask
We ate at a place called Rafferty's that I had been to a few times at another location. Good food! It was a weekend before "the birthday bash" at the museum so wasn't much going on other than typical museum traffic made it kind of nice easy to get around and see everything. Watch out or Kentucky state troopers on I65! Ask me how I know

The NCM and GM Plant Tour for "Corvette Enthusiast" is MUST!!! I live here in BG and I try and stop by the Museum at least once a month, just to check thing out. And take tour of the plant at least once a year, sometimes more!
If your coming this year, and can only make it once in 2013, then I would suggest the weekend of April 25-27, it's the NCM Bash.
This years Bash is going to be the first BG area viewing of the new C7! Plus there is always a big turn out of vettes that weekend.
If you cant make it that weekend, them my 2nd choice for a BG visit would be the Corvette Homecoming the weekend of July 25-27.
Please keep in mind that the GM Plant Tours will be stopped this year Sept 14th due to revamping for the new C7.
GM Plant Tours are guided and depart Monday thru Thursday at 8:30 AM, 11:30 AM, 12:45 PM, and 2:00 PM Central Time.
I have listed a few links below for you to check out, if you have any questions about specific things feel free to send me a pm.
Hope this help!
PS. Hope to see ya there!

I usually purchase a couple of the $10 raffles. I have been buying them for the last few years. I have not won any raffle, yet!
