Just got back from a muffler shop. I wanted them to install a Stinger system on my Z06 and they said the only way to get the stock mufflers off was to cut them. I want them left intact. Do you have to drop the rear suspension to get the stock mufflers off without cutting? At the price GM wants for TI mufflers, there's no way I'm going to cut them.
:nonod:
You DO NOT have to cut the factory exhaust to remove. You will, however, have to drop the swaybar (just remove bolts on each end). I did my Stinger install in my garage, and did not cut the factory Ti system at all.
Did you have enough clearance just by using jack stands?
Yes and no. I ALWAYS use jack stands, but I had to be creative, because you do have to jack the car up so high. I used blocks on top of my jack stands to add height, and my Rhino ramps under each rear tire. While doing this, I had my floor jack (again with a block of wood) at the cross member. I did not like using blocks, but I feel that I had three different supports. It worked fine and I had no problems at all.
Followed the advice from all you good people and a fresh set of stingers are now on the car. I'm no wrenchhead but I was able to do in my garage what a so called specialist couldn't do at his shop. Kinda makes me feel proud. :D Thanks again everyone!

How does the new setup sound? Where did you buy it? Did it come with a "X" pipe? Thanks for any info. I was considering some type of upgrade to eliminate the rattle...
