I have a 2004, yesterday I was driving home and when I was getting close to home(light by my place) I heard a whining sound coming from the car. Then this morning I was driving to work right when I was arriving to work all my check engine stuff came on... and the low voltage came on... Then this evening when I went to start my car the battery was dead. I got it jumped but the whine was still there... drove home and I had to keep it revved the whole time other wise the car would die. It felt like there was some resistance in the engine dragging the car down... so I would put it in neutral at lights and keep it revved. It was all I could do to get it home. I am wondering if it sounds like the alternator going out to any of you? What do you think?

Thanks guys! I love this place I love the help everyone gives... Sad but I have an alternator laying around somewhere(Moved once) I had changed it out in the past, that time it was the battery. When I find it and change it out I will let you know if that was it.
Could be the battery so low that it's putting extra load on the alternator causing the whine. Had it happen to one of my cars. Try to charge the battery and then have it tested before you go to the alternator.
