Does anyone know if I leave my C5 on the lift for an extended time to store, if the hanging weight is harmful to the springs? A buddy said he thought the shocks only allow it to drop to a neutral point. I ruined a set of steel leaves on a Mustang by leaving the rear hanging. They lost their shape. Any help is appreciated.
What do you consider an extended period of time? I've had my car up for a couple of months while doing mods with no problems. I would think it wouldn't be a problem, especially if you removed the wheels/tires.

Probably about 4 months. I don't really want to remove the wheels. I just want to put it up with the cover over it so I can park underneath. A freind thinks the shock internal stops hold it from having and tension in the opposite direction but I would like to know for sure.
Thanks for your reply , nice car.
This is one of those fundamental questions for which you will never get a true answer. I can just tell you what a buddy of mine who collects exotic cars told me. He believes that it is bad to store a car with it's suspension hanging. According to him, the suspension was designed to have a constant weight on it and having the suspension hanging for a long period of time puts an unnatural stress on certain components. Makes sense to me but I'm sure you will get differing views.
This is sort of the same type of thing as whether periodically starting the car during storage is good or not. Some say yes, others say no.
