Default oil change

I'am going to be doing an oil change to the vette here this weekend, the temp should be about 50. the question is, would it hurt to run a couple of qts. of lower grade oil in it to clean up anything that might be in the pan, before I put in my Mobil oil?.. and has anyone done this in the past

Not likely to be anything there. If there is, you've got bigger problems than an oil change can fix...

my $.02

I do not have a problem, I thought that it wouldent hurt to do an extra step. the car only has 22xxx miles on it. also changeing all the belts and hoses, do to that they are all original. year 2000. what type of coolent are you all putting in your system.

my dad is planning on doing the same thing, run some cheap oil through it to clean it up then put in the good stuff. I don't think its really gonna do much considering it has low miles but what the heck if you think it will help go ahead its not gonna hurt it!!

Don't wast your time or money, putting oil in, to do what, NOTHING. Just get the oil up to operate temperature, and dump and service.
Have Fun.

You could get a magnetic drain plug
50/50 mix of Dexcool

And for the coolant, just refill with 50/50 Dex-Cool mix.

Don't bother putting in cheap oil like that, the problem there is that once you drain it, some of that cheap oil will stay behind and mix with whatever oil you put in afterwards, so you are diluting the Mobil 1 with a bit of cheap oil. There really is no benefit to this type of flush procedure. If you have used a good synthetic oil like Mobil 1 all along, the engine and the oil pan will be virtually spotless inside anyhow.

Chances are the oil in it now never got even close to its max life expectancy anyway. Id wager the TBN is no where close half way down.
