Hello everyone. So I'm looking at getting my first corvette and was looking into the C5s. I drove a few C4s and 1 C5 and the C5 felt a lot better. I have ~14k to spend on one. After looking around I'm probaly going to get one that has over 70k miles on it.
Basically what I'm looking for is
- What issues could I run into getting a corvette with higher milage
- what to look for when looking at one
- any other info you can give me
Also while I wan't a stick shift I don't know how to drive one but don't really want a auto vette.
I haven't liked any Corvettes after 1967 until the C5. The C5 is a good choice and in your price range. Do searches here (I use Goggle to find froum threads here, works better for me) to find more about the C5 to make a better informed decision on year, etc. Hook up with a local Corvette group to learn more. Know how to pull up trouble codes so you can check those out. Check for codes during and after the drive since they may have been cleared to show the car. I love having the manual and the HUD display. Mine is a 2001 Convertible I got about 2 years ago with 60K miles on it. I am sure you can find someone with a manual car (any manual car) and learn how to drive one before you go shopping. When you shop try to bring another savy C5 owner with you to help evaluate the car. Where do you live? You can send me a private mesage with your phone number and I will be glad to talk with you about the C5. Good luck hunting to bag a nice trophy

Good luck in your search. I've had two manual tranny C5s and now have an A4 tranny one. Sure the manual tranny cars are nice, but I have had just as much fun in my auto tranny car as any of the others. So don't discount an auto equipped one - especially with the 3.15 rear gears.
I have a number of Word files that talks about the C5, as well as a Corvette Buyers Checklist. If you'd like a copy, PM me your e-mail address.
