My 04 coupe needs a new battery. I was in SAMs club today and found
That they carry Duracell car batts and the price is good. The orig is a
Size 86/ 690 cca. I have read where guys are installing size 78,which is
850 cca and about 1 1/8" longer in the same batt box, but the 78 only has side cable mounts. SAMs has a size 34/850 cca and is same o all size
As the 78, but has top mounts same as orig 86. Has anybody tried a
Duracell batt? Looks like a great deal to me. Thanks.
I bought the AGM Duracell last fall at Sams, I'll report back hopefully in 5-7 years with some good news. AGM has top and side posts. I would get the recommended size for your year. All C5 & C6 minimums: 120-RC, 700-CCA

What counts is what kind of Battery it is, that's why Optima's are so popular. If you ever have a leaky battery, the cars computer guts are right under it, toast! Sears DieHard Platinum size 75/86DT CCA 880 and RC 135 , It's identical to the Odyssey battery, a very highly rated unit.
My '04Z still runs the original, but I'll replace it that Diehard when the time comes....
I like the Sears deal Easy to buy, you just drive up, and they keep a data base via the car license, so you can easily check warrantee And since it is a favorite of old guys the merch is fresh , probably
plus the guys working your battery are not cashiers pressed into duty, they have the right tools and know how to work around charging systems, probably
That being said, I think My next Battery will be an exide, just because my car is triple black and I think the battery will look better than the AC Delco from the same plant

It has both posts, no leak issues, and 120 ReserveCap. 900 CCA!
had mine for 1.5 years, solid. I think it has 3 yr replacement also, a deal for 99$.

I had a Red Top battery in the car when I bought it, but when the battery reached the three year point it just died. Replaced it with a Sears DieHard Platinum - not cheap but in the three + years I have had the battery in the car it has performed flawlessly. There are a lot of good batteries out there so making a decision is not easy. Just be sure to get one that will not leak since there are some computers sitting right below the battery tray.
isn't that leaking batt deal a thing of the past? have read posts where that was only till 2001 or 2002. then problem was fixed . or am i wrong?have not heard any problems since. as of 2 days at sams, the price of an agm batt has increased to $132.

I replaced both my Vette & Mustang GT with Duracell batteries last year. I used the size 86 in Vette with no problems.
I would get an AGM battery for peace of mind. Regarding Optima, one of its competitors argues that the spiral technology provides less effective plate area by overall battery volume than a cube battery; I think they may have a point. The spiral wound thing may be just a gimmick.

You are correct amg square battery are the best! Optimas are junk and require special charging rates. There only good in boats in the front cabin to run a bow thruster because of no fumes.
opitma is junk in my opinion, I work at independent battery business and they don't hold up and price is outrageous, drive everyday they are not to bad, sit for few days at a time then they go bad quickly....the choice is yours..... side post problem a delco thing of the past, haven't heard or seen a problem in long, long time. I use a side post stock 75 gp size on my 03Z, next will be the bigger gp 78 side post...good luck.
just purchased a duracell # 34 batt. it fits like a glove in the orig batt box. came from sam's club. it has 850 cca and 120 rc. cost was 86.43
plus tax. has 3 yr. warranty like most new batts. figured it was a
great deal.
