Default May trade 01. Need advice

Have a QS 01 with 10K. Excellent shape, never been in rain kind of car. Have a hankering for another color. What am I looking at out of pocket to make the trade. Will definately go to a dealer that will discount. Thoughts? Suggestions? :yesnod:

kgrif, $8k......at least........
I would suggest NOT doing it, unless you have had some problems with the car.....
I traded in my '01, and so far, wish I had it back, and my $8k......
On the driving side, and the looks.....there isn't a dimes diff.......
If you plan on modding it, then I would trade.......if not.
keep it, and wait for the '04's...........supposedly425 rwhp :seeya

I have to agree to keep it. There is no advantage in trading now with the introduction of the C6 so close. You'll spend more money now and more later for the C6.

Kind of makes me feel good to know that MSRP on the 02 is almost 4K more than the MSRP on my 01 and it's even higer on the 03. For what you get, the price difference is not money well spent IMO.

I would say it depends on your ownership time horizon. If you plan on trading for a C6 in 3-4 years, don't trade now. If you plan on keeping it for years and maybe add a C6 down the road, I would get the 405 HP version of the Z06. It will retain it's value long term IMO. There are other changes as well:
More power
Stronger clutch
Different suspension tuning
HUD (if you care)
Different colors

This is a good article on the differences: http://www.idavette.net./hib/02ls6/index.htm

Good luck deciding!

I think the marginal power issue was addressed
stronger clutch - if you drive the car hard enough to even need the extra marginal power, then you will need a new clutch(easy upgrade)
suspension tuning is marginal and also easily upgraded
HUD - please - not for that money
Color - please - not for that money

stick with 01' and get a truely improved car with the C6 like most people agree

Like I said, IMO opinion it depends on whether or not you plan on trading for a C6. If you do, don't trade now. If you plan on keeping your C5 indefinitely and add a C6 (to build a collection) it's a personal/financial decision whether to upgrade now but there are some advantages that will make the 2002/2003 more attractive over the long haul. Kinda like the king of the Hill ZR1 is to the C4 now.

I traded mine once I found out the '03 wasn't going to be any different and at
first I regretted the trade. The car didn't feel as fast. The ride was better but the '02 is not as low as the '01 was.I have 7200 miles on the new one now and I wouldn't go back.It does make more power than the '01 (I dynoed them
both) and the ride quality offsets the lower look.As much as I loved the black
cars I gotta say I really do like the yellow.Overall,I'm happy I traded.Good Luck!

More advice as I have also investigated this same change.

SOmething notmentioned. The 02 and 03 have 405 where as the 01 is the only has 385. That may make 01 the collectable year, if you plan to keep it "forever".

If performance is important, Send the car and your $8K-$10K to a tuner and you will have a car which will runaway from any 02 or 03. (This was my decision)

Either way you will have a great car to drive.
