Default Mod Question

I recently purchased a beautiful QS ZO6 and have spent countless hours on the forum reading about all the mods people have installed. I'm considering some bolt on mods such as intake and maybe exhaust. I don't expect to do any regular heavy duty autocross or drags, just occasional club events. My question is: can you REALLY tell the difference of 10-20 hp with a Blackwing intake? Can you Really tell the difference with a Corsa Indy or Borla Stinger exhaust. Just an honest question.

I have had to let the dyno tell me what has worked and what hasn't. My SOTP meter is off though :) Bolt on mods are fun :) Enjoy your ride.

I could tell the difference with the Corsa's and my blackwing on my 2000 coupe-but with the Z->I have had quite a few Z folks at car shows tell me the stock filter is pretty close to the blackwing! And you DO have titanium exhaust, lighter don't know about increase in HP over stock C5 (someone chime in here!)? Sure sounds throatier than even my Corsa tourings did on the coupe! I have a vortex air duct that I also am hesitating on-have been told by guys at shows that some people that have installed on Z's have actually reported a LOSS in air intake on the Z.

I myself have held off putting stuff back on the Z just because the more I explore this issue the more I am finding out that the stock Z is pretty darn good out of the box!

Be interested to hear what other Z drivers have found out on modding...?

I was mod crazy on my last C5 but this car just seems to not need anything.
I've had it for 7 months and the only things I've changed are the shifter and a drop in K&N filter. :smash:

The good thing about bolt on's is that most wont void any major warrranties ... so until then you wont have to worry about the major things ... and then ... the fun begins ... and you rip apart the engine ... and mod like crazy ...

Maybe you can't tell the different with a mod that adds 5 rwhp to the car. I bet you could tell the different in three mods that add 5 rwhp to the car. Every little bit helps. You may not notice that 5 rwhp, but it's there, waiting to be combined with the the other bolt ons. Every little bit helps. Rule of thumb is, unless you have seens dynos or personal testimony, whatever the manfacturer of that bolt-on mod says the gain is, cut that in half and that's what it will actually give you.

I have had very good luck with Blackwing intakes on earlier cars (19RWHP on a 98). The newer Vettes do have better intakes so the results are a little less drastic. I will have dyno numbers before/after #'son a 02 Z06 I installed one on next week.
As for the exhaust; there really isn't any power to be had from replacing the cat-back system (8HP absolute max). So is there a difference between Corsa and Borla... No.
I personally think the Corsa sounds better.
