23 years old and just graduated with an engineering degree and started my first job. So what do I do? Go out and buy a Corvette! Picked up a 2000 Millennium Yellow Coupe 6 speed with removable top for $20,000. Only has 31k miles on it, one owner. All the options.
Also, any suggestions for my first mods? I'll upload interior pics later. Glad to be joining the board!
The engineers that designed your car did a good job. Loading it with aftermarket modifications will cost money and make the resale value drop. Unless you plan on track racing or driving like the Dukes Of Hazard avoid the temptation to mod. I ran away from cars with mods when I was shopping.
Thanks guys! This is my first experience with an American sports car (had a 98 BMW Z3 and a 08 Civic SI before), so I'm just getting used to this new world of corvettes haha
1) Hot passenger
2) K&N Filter (I just don't like paper...)
3) Flush all fluids like trans/oil/dif/coolant etc... (I don't like to trust previous owners took care of these things)
4) 105-115 octane fuel
Then take it for a nice long drive with your passenger and get a feel for what you want. Get a grip if you want better low/high end, handling etc. I know with my c5z lots of people beef up the low end torque but I myself really want to boost the high end & maybe handling from there because of what I like to do (someone recommended this to me when I bought mine and posted on the forum - feel like it was great advice).
CONGRATS! - Nice to see another young owner - I am 21.

I do agree on this. As in mods, I would probably only look into simple, non engine relate mods (maybe updated stereo head unit, new shift ***, potenetial interior upgrades). Don't wanna change the car too much, its already incredible
I bought my first Corvette about 18 months ago, an '02 Coupe. I was 62 years old. Certainly wish I had bought one at your age; that way I'd been enjoying Corvettes for over 40 years!!! Best car I've had. Congratulations! !!
PS. Don't Mod? You gotta be joking. 1. Cold air intake. 2. Catback exhaust. 3. Long tube headers.

Congrats and Welcome! I just picked up mine last year at 24. It was 2 years after my engineering degree though.. Lol. It is nice to get out of school and actually afford things.
As far as mods go, do what you like. Personally, I like to make a car better than it comes out of the factory. And make it mine. As much as I like it, the stock C5 isn't perfect.
