I just looked at a 03 50th Anniversary Red convertible. It is not a garage queen so it has a few scratches and stone chips along with the usual under front facia scrapes.
Does anyone have an idea what it would cost to have the car painted from the doors forward. The drivers door has a nasty scuff where it looks like they may have opened the door and hit the garage wall. It looks like a tough paint to try touch up paint on.
Thanks
ps; Has anyone tried the paint repair process at Drcolorchip.com? Their video's do not give a real idea of their success but they have good testimonials?

Reason: Additional info
Blending is the key but that would be a tough color even to blend well. I'm sure there will be some light/angle you'll be able to tell something no matter how good the blend is.

I called a high end paint shop today. Gat an estimate off $1500 to paint the front to the rear of the doors. They quoted $5000 for whole car.
Does anyone know of a super duper detailer in the Nashville Tennessee area?

A high-end detailer is going to be expensive. Not $5000 but
my guess $500 to a $1000. Do some thinking stripes ,a partial
wrap, flames, there are a lot of options.

I am thinking more along the lines of touch up, clay bar, buff out wax etc. I have a partial tear in my left rotator cuff and two surgeries on the right. I cannot do the rubbing bit.
I can't realy comment on pricing since I had numerous other items performed while the car was at the body shop. Long story short, I added a new hood, front spoiler side skirts and rear spoiler. While having these items painted I also elected to have the front fascia, license plate cover plate and headlight covers repainted to remove rock nicks from 40,000 miles of wear. This was also to blend the hood and lower spoiler to the rest of the car. My car is Magnetic Red Metallic, a color similiar to the 50th anniversary red with a lot of metallic and also has the factory 3 step paint job like the 50th does (Base/Tint/Clear) which was also a $500 addition for that paint color. I chose a very competent shop to do the work and I honestly can say that there is no way you can tell the difference between the factory panels that weren't painted and the ones that were. It really rests in the abilities of the shop but the paint can be matched and blended to the other panels to look as good as factory, even the tough metallic paint colors.
My guess is 1,500 is an average price for a good job.

I can relate to your situation. I'm also looking go repaint my front bumper and hood (rock chips). One of the best shops here in town quoted me 1300 another source quoted me 500. So it just really depends on the place.
If you know of any used car lots in your area that you trust, you might ask them who they use to detail out the cars that they buy. Several of them use services that touch up paint chips, blemishes etc. They may even be able to show you cars on the lot that have been detailed out.
Good luck.

That is a good idea. I stopped at a Chevy dealer and looked at two Vettes that He had. Their cars had a good shine but I was not impressed with the overall look. I used to work for a GM dealer and we just used the shop guys to clean up the used cars.
Just to put it into perspective, I just had my front bumper and new hood painted, just materials alone was right at $600, that is for DuPont base/ clear, there were other brands half of that. Just depends on how long you want it to look good. Pricier clear coats will give you that deeper look, and continue to have it for a greater period as opposed to cheaper paints.
Painting cars...wow a touchy subject for my family.
Really that price of $1500 is not off the mark at all. Now days paint and materials such as hardener, reducer, clear, base. One gallon worth of these items can cost upwards of 1500 by their-self.
The 63 roadster was just painted and paint, spraying, wet sanding, buffing = $5000. The body work was all completed by us.
If you trust the shop have them repaint. If a reputable detailer thinks they can polish it back to life go that route. Once it's painted a person who has knowledge will always know. And depending on the color of the car it may be tough to match 10yrs later?

I think that before I jump in on this, I will look at a good detailer working his magic. The paint itself looks good, it is just that there are stone dings and light scratches. Awhile back someone keyed my wife's car a 2009 Cadillac CTS. I bought a product called Fix it Pro and when I was done, most of the key marks were not visible. It was keyed from the passenger side front door to the rear fender. We traded the car in to CarMax and they never mentioned it.
Here is my new setup hood, headlights, still not crazy about the frog eye look they are growing on me, but I did HID upgrade in process, it is a night and day difference regarding quality and amount of light at night. And repainted front bumper as well.
