OK so I have a 2000 C5 convertible with 40,000 miles, I have noticed that when I pull it out of garage and leave down the street it makes kind of a rubbing noise like a metal rub every revolution so not constant. If the car just warms up to operating temp. the noise still remains when I leave, always under load never when idleing or reving motor. Now when I get it on the road and put my foot into it the noise goes away and does not come back until the next morning. Weird, anybody got ideas what to look for?

Brakes have a natural drag on the rotors and sometimes can cause a sound when going slow and are cold, You can try a few high speed stops and see if that helps.

Rear differential? If it's a grinding, chattering noise, it's normal. It that's it change out your diff fluid, (I suggest Amsoil) with limited slip additive.
I will check the diff. fluid, 40000 miles probably should be changed. Don't think that is it but worth a shot. Hard to tell when the noise goes away after accelerating and doesn't come back till next day. Need to find Dyno to put it on and run it so I can pin point better
Doesn't sound like it is diff chatter which would occur when doing sharp turns - yours sounds like it occurs going straight. Unfortunately, could be a lot of things including torque tube, wheel bearings, brake rotor/pad rub as mentioned above. I'd check the torque on your rear axle nuts as a starter. If it goes away, I'd guess most likely cause is brake rotor/pad rub which is only an annoyance but nothing physically wrong. You know what kind of pads you have? Good luck!
