Default 2001 or 2002?

My 2001 Z06 has "Head up" display, but according to information I read on-line, GM didn't add that until 2002? Anyone know anything about this?

It was an option. Starting in 2002, it was standard.

Plus, there have been many people who have installed it themselves.

What they said. It's a very nice thing to have on the car.

HUD was not an option in 2001 on the Z06. It was made standard for 2002 though. If your '01 has it someone added it afterwards.

No HUD option in 2001.

Many owners added them afterwards. The harness is there and all the parts cost about $400.

My 2001 came with it as well. Nice of the previous owner to add. =)

Ditto. Its a cool feature but I swear Im more likely to have an accident with that on during the daytime. I find it more useful at night, but then I rarely drive it when its dark out. Mine is turned off for the most part.

HUD is great when the speed limit goes down to 30 mph through these towns in TX and you don't want to get nailed by the law dog. You can keep your eye on the road and watch your speed.

I can hardly see my mine during the day. So, it's pretty much a non-existent problem during the day. Hours of limited visibility I have to turn it waaaayy down. I like not having to glance down at the speedo to check speed though since my car doesn't "do" slow.

I think it's great. I almost never turn mine off. I like how many options you have. You can have only the tach or only the speedo. I wish the tach display was better though. It can be difficult to see exactly what the rpm is sometimes. The actual rpm needs to stand out more against the dashes showing where the numbers are...I hope I explained that well. The C6 HUD is much more refined. That would be a cool mod for a C5.

Could a C6 HUD be installed into our C5's??? I've never heard anyone mention that. Would be a nice upgrade, if someone has done it I'd like some details on the procedure.

You must have upgraded your stock headlights. The HUD can almost overshine the stock headlights. First time I drove at night with my stock bulbs was just about the last.

piaa 9006 bulbs are a major upgrade and only 50 bucks

using the 10926 intense white bulb

thing i like about piaa is they have the longest life of any of the "performance bulbs" i've tried
