wait, wait, wait...

did you just say racing?! i can't for the life of me imagine why anyone would torture such a marvelous pristine creature of automotive excellence in such a fashion.

these princesses should be placed neatly under a cover in the garage after a couple fresh coats of polish and admired on sunny weekends by way of a sophisticated 55mph cruise - not thrashed about by some young irresponsible heathen!

Some people are willing to spend the money for a little fun, be it car value or price of tires. As long as they do it responsibly then more power to them. Seriously, it's only a Chevy. Damn good one but a a Chevy none the less. I love the video and can remember what fun it is to smoke them. As a matter of fact I might take it on a closed course this weekend and relive my youth.
You might think that it upsets me to see someone beat on their Corvette , no actually it's yours and you can do what you want to it . I actually don't mind because it eliminates most of them and the fewer C5's , the better for the rest of us who take care of them. I'm sure you don't care because the majority of you will just move on to another newer one and continue to destroy it too. What is a shame is that the C5 was the best of the best and when their gone , their gone forever.

Do you really think any of us care what you think!i mean really peeling out is destroying the car then why did gm make it so you can shut traction off? after all the performance the put in this car i doubt a couple burn outs is destroying it! bottom line just cause you dont agree with it dont make it wrong. go put another coat of wax on your car and stare at it some more while we drive and enjoy our cars

i believe it's more that guys like us don't think of it as destroying our vehicles. we're actually just verifying the engineering claims GM made when they gave them to us. should something break, we're also the kind who replace it with something even better, so in essence, we're making the car better & stronger for the people who are scared that it's gonna fall apart at the hint of operating any harder than the average commuter car.

but really, we don't have them kind of people in mind - we're building them for our own enjoyment and not caring or thinking about selling it later

that means i'd have to pull it out into the 2ft of snow outside right now

and after what happened at Road Atlanta a couple years ago, i think my value is whatever somebody is willing to pay... not that i'll give it up - it's definitely mine now

You act like Corvettes are fragile and brittle and will break apart at 100 MPH. Youre a perfect example of why car enthusiast cant stand Corvettes and stay with Mustangs and Camaros. Its a shame really because Corvettes deserve more respect than what they get outside of the corvette world. Cant beat their performance for the price.

The Corvette drivetrain was BUILT for PERFORMANCE. Most Camaro guys will HCI their motors with 120k+ on it without any issues. Stop crying like a little baby and justifying why your boring bone stock C5 is "better" than others who ENJOY their cars for what they were MADE, Let me repeat that, MADE for. They beat the hell out of these cars during production to TAKE the "abuse". Go sell your car and buy a Prius, I hear they think alot like the way you think.

Man, this is still going

Im on the performance enthusiast side on this. What other American car would be better for racing and fun (short of a Viper and if you had the money)? Its one of the only ones made for it! What the OP did, did not hurt the car in any way. I guess us who hit the strip should not burn out to gain traction! We might break something!

Come on guys, this behavior comes so naturally to the Corvette. No other car Ive owned has made me feel as at ease as this car when getting on it. Once the tires are spinning, there really is little strain on the drive train.

People like you are why most Corvette clubs suck. You drive a plastic CHEVROLET lol, get off your damn high horse. I drive my FRC hard here and there and keep all fluids changed regularly, keep my alignment in check, bushings, etc. Just because we want to go out and enjoy our cars instead of sit in a chair in front of them and jack off to them (which sounds much like you) doesn't mean we "tear them up". Why would you buy a sports with the capabilities of the c5 and just putt around everywhere? Makes no sense to me

Wait, a Corvette is a Chevy? Not a super rare 1000 cars made supercar that must be treasured and never driven? Its only a mass produced plastic $12k car?

Who'duh thunk it huh? I have nothing against fellow Corvette owners (or any car enthusiasts for that matter) that have the same idea as bj1k to preserve their cars. But when they're pressing their views on someone who goes out and enjoys the power of their car to the point of hard criticism that's when it becomes ridiculous. People like him are why Corvette owners have such a snobby name to them.

alright... it's points like this when threads do start getting shut down because it becomes more about personal attacks than that the OP was about.

let's agree to disagree about whether or not somebody's an idiot for driving their car like it was built to be driven.

yeah, something about a dip unloading the suspension coupled with going into a turn almost 20mph too hot and 400TW all season tires just don't equate to the successful execution of a turn... go figure

I actually used to post on ls1tech quite a bit when I owned my ws6 and always strayed away from threads going south like this. But after owning a Corvette, the 2 things that **** me off about them are the Corvette taxes, and the pushy Corvette purists that have heart attacks over having a little fun.
