Was there a lot of talk about how much the front end looked like a Firebird? The other day I noticed a bright red car coming towards me and I thought it sure looks like someone spent a lot of time detailing that Corvette, but then as it got closer I realized it was a Firebird!

Im more interested in how much crying people did when Chevy started putting the same exact ls1 motor that was in the Corvette and into the 1998 Z28 Camaro the next year. Judging by all the crying that took place about the "taillights looking like a Camaro" on the C7
I'm ashamed to say, I've seen what I thought was a Vette coming towards me and I got my wave arm all set to go only to realize it was a Firebird I guess I better go and have my eyesight checked

Never thought the front end of the C5 looked like a Firebird - the only thing on the front that possibly looks like that would be the DRLs when they are on. Otherwise, I have no trouble telling a C5 from a Firebird/Camaro.
In all of these years I've never thought a C5 and a Firebird looks the same. From a distance the Firebird running lights will kind of make you think that it's a C5.

I saw a C5 waiting across an intersection from me the other day with the headlights up, but not on. It's a big intersection and it was probably about 100 feet away. I couldn't figure out what it was at first and thought it was an old Porsche 928, until the light changed and I realized it was a Corvette. I attribute such anomalies to old age and poor eyesight.

NOW,,,I DO think that the C4's and the Firebirds of that generation DID look quite similar,, but not the C5's, Maybe the DRL's from a distance but thats it!
