One week ago I was at a show. The judges were in teams. The
team that looked at my vette ,well it was interesting. I have a
modified C-5 > The women judge asked me what the 5th point
of my rollbar was?? I said it was part of the rollbar. She asks
"DID that come from the factory?" I did not roll my eyes I just
said "No Mam".
I got 2 points knocked off my total. I won 2nd place. You figure.
Yes it has been said before--these shows don't mean much.
2nd place modified vette. I was thrown in with the stockers when
judged.
All of these cars on here are all winners. I have won many trophies over the years and won a few NCCC Concourse with my C3. What I hate in car shows is when some one trailers in with a Brand New Corvette with fresh Armorall on everything is put in the same class as C5s and wins.
Love to see that same car in 10 Years
Went to a show yesterday and got third in my class which wasn't bad. The class was the worst setup I had ever seen though, it was 1973 to current modified. There were a lot of cars in my class. I hate to admit this but I lost to a 2004 Ford Focus and a 1985 Monte Carlo. It's fun to hear the crowd murmur when 1st and 2nd were announced. Either way had a great time and saw some awesome cars.
Well I guess you can't win them all. Fun still to just go and see what's there and meet people. You're at the mercy of the judges and their opinion. Congrats on the third place though.
I do one show every year, it's an all vette show held in Merrimack NH. I enjoy it because it's early in the season and gives me a good excuse to detail the crap out of the car and then I enjoy it all summer. I do agree with some of the comments made here about judging but it's still a great time and I've met some great people. Took home a first place trophy this year in the super street category, which was interior and exterior.
