Default I stand corrected...

A while back in a thread about the merits of a convertible vs a hatchback, I posted that I was not able to get one set of golf clubs in the trunk. let alone two sets of clubs neatly stowed

I was wrong....

I'm not sure what was up on my first attempt, but I could not for the life of me get them in the trunk of the car without creating major body damage. It was one of those days.

After reading the post where a gentleman got two sets with the top down, I was skeptic and couldn't wait to get home and try again, They just fell in.

I apologize for posting something on the internet that wasn't true.

I've also found the trunk will hold among other things;
A 56 bottle wine cabinet and 2 computer kiosks (assembly required)
$256 worth of groceries.
Fender Twin amplifier & guitar
My elderly father's Cadillac fold up walker w/deluxe beverage holder.

That's right, and with a coupe targa top stowed, you couldn't do that. You'd have to leave the top home.

If I remember correctly, the C5 was advertised as being able to stow a couple of sets of golf clubs in the back. Lots of room back there, even in the vert/FRC versions.

I worked with a guy that was a big golf nut and was thinking about buying a C5 vert. b/4 he made his decision he took his clubs out of his caddilac and put them in the Vettes trunk to make sure they fit - which of course that did. he signed papers and left in it.

Yes. I heard that was actually one of the goals of the designers.

Yep, the reason the C5 has a huge *** is because some idiot exec at GM made it a mandate for the design team to accommodate two sets of golf clubs in their flagship sports car. I still curse him to this day for ruining the rear end of the C5 - it's the worst aspect of what could otherwise have been a stunning and timeless design.

personally, im glad its got enough room to carry groceries, golf bags, and some guitars. i like my girl with a substantial rear end it makes it great for a road trip with the wife to carry a couple bags and be able to keep the roof down. IMO

I like the butt of my "Little Girl". That was one of many attributes for seeking out a C-5.

I really like that the C5 has such a big and useable trunk area. It is so much better than my C4's. Easier to use and much bigger.

Another thing I discovered is that a "Little Playmate" cooler actually fits in the center depression under the flat trim piece. That center depression section is really quite large and will hold a lot too.

The 2 golf bags thing always cracks me up.

This sticker comes on all Nissan 350Z's from the factory and it always cracks me up when I see it:

And to be fair, it is complicated getting 2 golf bags back there, because there is a big sway bar that goes over the trunk almost splitting it in 2.

I was pleasantly surprised at the trunk space in a C5, even with the top down. I test drove a newer Camaro SS convertible, and you can barely fit a suitcase in that trunk with the top down!
