Car looks great. My FRC is lowered and I have never scraped on a speed bump. Sometimes I scrape the front spoiler when I pull out of my driveway and it shows no damage. If it is so bad to lower it why does GM offer instructions on how to lower it??
Great idea for a track car in some areas but the stock C5 bottoms out often enough on driveway ramps and speed bumps this makes no sense!
Sit back and watch the sparks fly!
Do everyone a favor here. Sell your worthless stock C5 and go buy yourself another piece of ____ Mazda miata and go be a tool on the miata forum. Obviously you can't handle it on here.

I don't have a problem here but obviously

Imagine, you consider a stock Corvette worthless
Molested vehicles modified by amateur mechanics with mail order parts must be better! It says so on the internet.

Actually the people who enjoy the modification process rarely ever have negative criticism of those that enjoy the stock side of the Corvette game. I started out on the stock side and now I love the mod side. But I understand and respect the heck out of stock Corvette fans. It's just a slightly different approach but at the core we all love Corvettes/cars.
Your consistent use of the word molested has such a backhanded and negative tone that it is very childish.
Further, there are many tremendously talented and knowledgeable mechanics working on all types of Corvettes that would take serious offense to the amateur remark. That is just plain ignorance.

Pretty much sums it up!
I have never been to a show or event where an owner of a modified or "personalized" Corvette as I like to call it, has ever talked down a stock Corvette. However I have seen numerous examples of stock owners making negative remarks over modified Corvettes as if any type of modification is considered blasphemy against the GM Church of Corvettes. The cars were designed to be tweaked and improved.
I was at a show last summer where a judge, after looking at a very nice modified C5 with CCW wheels and customer leather interior, whispered "he's not going to buy a trophy". Like the end game is to spend $10K+ in improvement mods so we can win $25 plastic trophies?! Regardless of who wins, check out where most people gather and which cars draw the largest crowds at shows and it's usually around the custom and modified cars.
The OP posts a picture of his beautiful Mag Red vert lowered and all of a sudden, the thread disintegrates into a claim that all owners of modified Corvettes tend to shop the JC Whitney catalogs with a "What's next?!" attitude towards every stick-on option that is released.
Maybe it would be better if we all drove black Fords...

Just wanted to get under your skin like you do to everyone else in ALL of your posts with nothing but negative comments to say about someone who's enthusiastic about their car and having pride in ownership. I don't consider any corvette worthless, just yours cause it brought you here. Have a nice day
Wow, started a feud over nothing but turning a wrench! Lets just say I think some of these people think that one day the C5 will be as valuable or collectable as some early C3's, C2's and C1's. If you think about it those cars were worth less than they paid for them at the time just like these cars. They modified them if they wanted and to be honest there are not all that many mods that can't be reversed if somewhere down the road these cars are collectible. I didn't buy this car to make money on it down the road, I bought it to enjoy now. Besides in one hour I can put it back to stock height if I wanted. I can rip off the long tubes, put stock breather back on, stock exhaust, etc. No big deal. I had early C-3's worth some money, a C- 2' and this car will smoke them all and get 28 mpg on top of it with A/c and modern convenience. Not knocking those years, I love them, but this car just suits me better and you can drive anywhere.
Did you have any issues with the front bolt being seized?
Wahoo12
No, problem with the bolts. I just jacked it up, put it on the stands and sprayed PB Blaster on them the day before and followed the instructions on the thread. Putting jack under the spring it's self and taking just a little pressure off the front spring helps. Just follow the instructions. I don't know what the post was, something like Frank's hobbies or something. I am sure one of these guys knows and can steer you there if you're interested. The rear has a rubber bushing with I think 2 rings around it. After the first time I wanted the rear lower and removed the bushing and whacked it off at the second ring ,or about 3/4 of it, and that made a big difference. My car has the F-45 suspension so that makes the front more difficult because you have to unbolt the bottom of the shock on each side, no big deal but takes a little longer.
Mine is lower than that, and I don't have a scraping problem. In and out of my driveway, and the occasional steep incline it will drag the rubber air dam. But thats about it. I've never smacked the rockers on anything.
The air dam is $40 and 10 minutes to replace. I'm not too concerned about it.
Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
