I have an 02 stocker 6 speed with a few bolt-ons. Lately I've had this idea that I wanted a later model Z06/LS7 for no other reason than to gain some horsepower. I drove an 09 Z06/LS7 yesterday thinking I would be amazed at how much more horsepower and torque the LS7 would have...not! My 02 is just as quick as the 09! My 02 will be a REAL badass after I install a cam and/or nitrous!

All I can say is the Z06 had some big issues or you have one bad a$$ C5, I have driven the C6Z and it is bad a$$, No way a C5 without internal mods will even come close, Could this possibly be a
Post?
I also find it hard to believe. My slightly modified C5 feels as quick as my stock C6 vert. I don't know if it is or it's just that it has a louder exhaust that makes it seem that way. My C5 has the performance ratio and the C6 has the standard ratio. I think the huge difference in gear ratio and the C6 being heavier may make them about the same. I am sure the C6 has a higher top speed though. The C5 handles much better though. Both are stock base suspensions.
Supercharger is your friend. Put one on and you can eat C6 Z06 in a straight line. On the track, you will eat his dust.
Of course assuming both drivers are equal.
Have seen C5 Z06s with supercharger and minor changes to suspensions eat C6 Z06s in straight line and on the track. Will take quite a few mods to accomplish the same on a standard coupe.

With just a few bolt ons an '02 coupe should not be as fast an a C6 Z06. Heck of a HP difference.
Hey Mr. Bill - even after you accuse me of eating yellow snow and hanging out with pajama people, I'd still like to know which streetable cam you would recommend for my C5?

Seriously - a good tune, Vararam, headers, noncat X pipe, Z06 mufflers. I'm just sayin'!
It will take a lot more than a Vararam, LT, X-Pipe and a pair hanging of the back of your car to get even close to a C6Z, I want some of what you are smoking.

Now now i beat a 9 second drag car in my slant 6 plymouth scamp, something on his car might of broke from the line though.

It will obviously make the sky a different color...
An LS1 with those bolt on mods should be somewhere around 350RWHP - best. Still down 85-90RWHP to the bone stock Z.
