just bought '97 corvette C5. 57,000 miles. Third transmission was just installed. Gears may have been changed as said by the GM dealer mechanic. Can't drive it because eventually will wreck transmission again. How can I find out if t gears are causing the problem like if someone replaced them, and they are not right. HELP
Like mentioned, in order for us to help, you need to give us more of the symptoms. A4's can be tricky. But we can't go any further without information of what your car is doing other than the gearing mentioned.
Are you getting a CEL(check engine light)? If so do you know how to get the codes? That will help you share more specifically the issue you may be having.
Also this is the third tranny on 50k mile car?? WOW!
If some one has changed the gear ratio you'll need to reprogram the computer. That isn't too big of a deal to have done. Find out what gear ratio you have now if it's not stock. Most people would know this needs to be done when installing the different ratio gears. Can you ask the person you bought it from for this info?
