In the first month I had the car I had a LEO drive past me, do a U-turn and then get behind me and follow me a couple hundred yards and then do another U-turn to continue the way he was originally going. I'm in NJ and a front tag is required. I had no front tag that day.
But, when he got behind me he realized I had a valid temporary tag still on the rear.
Maybe that's the real problem, the actual design of the US plates. Do they really need to have so much dead space? Something similar to the plate above, thinner with just the tag numbers should work.
I feel bad for the guys who run the Tigershark front bumpers and the C6 owners. The front plate looks like such an "add on" afterthought in terms of design.
At least the OEM C5 front fender was designed to take a plate and I've seen some nice, pre-formed clear covers that actually look pretty good and match the contour of the front fender.
I had a LEO in Illinois pull a U-turn on me as well but it was for tinted windows in my daily driver. He told me he had seen my car for months and decided to write me a warning.
Just feel lucky they're not like the ones in the UK. Those things are like billboards!
