So I find the cheapest carrier online, old dominion, and its 211.00, not to bad, so I contact the online outfit and they start addin the resident to resident tax, and then the base rate was higher since it wasn't a biz. So it's now 399.00
So I go right to the carrier, cut out the middleman, and they charged more, I was told the online companies can do it cheaper, but there usin the same companies I called????
So I'm thinking that's just the rate or I'm needing some help here

Greyhound , I had my hood liner shipped for 50.00 .
The box that they shipped my hood liner was bigger than my hood. Greyhound shipping ships anything that fedex or ups does but cheaper. Doesn't hurt to call . I thought the same thing , UPS wanted 250.00 , just because of the size of the box. Good luck . The storage under the bus is bigger than you think it is.
I'd suggest checking with either Conway CCX or Yellow Freight. I ship civil use jet engines around the country and both these carriers seem to have the best agent network for LTL (less than truck load) shipments.
Try Forward Air. They only ship from airport to airport so you will need to take it to them, but they are cheap compared to the other guys. The funny thing is they do not ship by air but by truck.
Alright guys I finally got squared away with a price I could live with, 257.84.
Here's a few tips that I found out about that make a big difference in price...
Do not go straight to a carrier unless of course you have a account with them, easy 100 to 200.00 extra.
Use one of the large freight outfits like freightquote.com( they were the cheapest of the 3 I looked at. from what I'm told and verified after 2 days of hunting, these huge freight scheduling outfits own the Us freight market, and tryin to cut out the middleman is a huge waste of time.
Do not select any type of add on unless you must have it, lift gate etc. do not COD that's a expensive charge and is what was killing me, just this am a gal mentioned that to me while inquiring, none of the others said spit.
Took abit but its goin to work even with 200+ to ship the hood, still comes in cheaper then salvage yard at 900.00
Thanks for all the input and helping appreciated
