Yep that's a good idea.. but I can almost guarantee that money isn't A) going to be much.. and B) whatever is left is going to bills or savings most likely, so I may as well take what I can off this car and sell it "as-is".. which is as good as its going to get.

Now when I say its a piece of crap.. well honestly from 5ft away or MORE anyone with decent eyes wouldn't notice, but get any closer and there are plenty of fiberglass cracks, gaps, paint color shifts from panel to panel.. and if you get inside.. the airbag covers look like crap (obvious sign of distress on the car) etc etc. and that's before driving it

Let me put it to you this way.. as a knowledgable corvette owner, I would never have purchased this car. I was always a little ticked that he bought it because to me it was obvious trash, but he always wanted a Corvette and it gave him some fun before he died.

I'd be lucky (really lucky) to get 10K for the car.

I'm inclined to agree with this comment. Once you take a few very noticeable parts off, others will not want to pay as much and/or you'll be stuck with then having to TOTALLY part it out to get much moola out of it.

And yes, sorry that you acquired it in this way.

10k isn't a bad price for a salvage title 01 in rough shape. the engine is worth 3 or so if it has good leakdown numbers. if you parted it i think it would take longer and who knows what you would get

i would probably ebay the car honestly. list all known flaws, get realistic pics and see who buys. if you manifold swap and someone catches it they may wonder what else has been swapped and pulled.

then again if it's a rough car it may not matter, you just sell it for what the market will give you

i still don't think i would parts swap stuff. just take what the market provides for it, buy a few mods for your car and throw the rest in your account

Yeah I'll give EBAY a shot.. ugh they have heavy fees too. Oh wel. Realistically I'm thinking I'd probably get 6K.. after I split it with my sister we'll have 3K.. not much. If I could get a supercharger installed for the cash sell that would be SWEET!!

I don't have time to part the car honestly, in fact if it came down to that I'd probably just give it away and make it a tax write off.

My only feeling about swapping parts is that potential buyers honestly wont care with a car like this.. now if it was a clean car WiTH a salvage title I would 100% agree NOT to pull anything off, but its not.. it already looks like a hodge-podge repair job on a wrecked C5. Even then I might not bother.. just wondering what people WOULD pull if they could in my situation.

fees are not heavy at all. last car i sold was $125 flat when it sold with no listing fees

they do change stuff monthly but it's cheaper than it was a few years ago

the thing i would be most tempted to swap is the manifold as an ls6 manifold is worth 400 used. it will really shine as you start making more power. has more plenum volume than the ls1 manifold and can support more hp. if you do heads & cam or boost the ls6 manifold will make you more power hands down. only worth 5-10hp on a stock engine but modded it goes way past that

i also think you'll get more than 6k unless that trans is just f'ked, hard to say without pics though

still even if you got 6k, as you point out, 3k is a lot of fun money for your half. you could do heads & cam or most of a supercharger
