Default Pulling parts from a 2001

My father passed away last month and left me with a 2001 that has a salvaged title, however many things are good on the car including the engine. I own a 1998 that is in prime condition, what if anything would your pull from the 2001 to enhance the '98?

Wheels? HUD? Memory Sport Seats? Dual Zone AC?.. is that even do-able?

-Thanks all

I'm sorry to hear about your father.

changing over to memory is more involved than just replacing the seats and mirrors (etc), the BCM will need to be reprogrammed. The wheels but not the TPMS are interchangable. The HUD is doable, but I'm not sure if your gauge cluster will have a ribbon connecter in place. Theengine and PCM will likely need to go together, but that too is doable.

Changing the keyless reciever would be worthwhile to do.That way the tpms on the wheels would work and remotes and tire pressure sensors would be alot ceaper!

Is the salvage title car repaired and licensed? If so someone may want to buy it.

Sorry to hear about your father. May he RIP.

Lots of good advice here on what can be transferred. If the '01 is in good shape other than the title, you may want to see if you can sell it first. Once you start tearing things away from it, you'll be stuck with trying to part out the rest of the car.

Thanks everyone.. my dad LOVED his corvette it was the only car he could drive that didn't hurt his poor back.

However.. The car is a pile of junk IMO.. but I'm ****
The airbags had been deployed, the steering wheel is oval instead of round, and it drives poorly when moving out of first gear, but really its just a transmission issue.

The car overall is drivable and sellable, but if there are things I could silently transfer from my car to his car and vice-versa it would still be sellable and would not deter a buyer who is already willing to purchase a salvaged car.

BTW what is the PCM?

PCM= power control module.
It's the brains of the engine.
BCM=body control module
It's the brains behind all the bodily functions of the car, such as memory..

The 2001 has 34K I think.. its pretty low. My car just hit 60K, so its respectfully low also, especially for an early C5 ('98).

What does the remotes have to do with the tire pressure sensors? The 98 also has keyless entry, is it somehow different? (sorry if I'm asking dumb questions I really don't know)

Easier than you think. You don't have to replace the mirrors at all. If your driver's seat is already electric, then all you need is the driver's window switch with the memory buttons. Install that and you'll have memory to the seat and mirrors, but not the steering column.

That was my initial thought.. that it would just work plug 'n play. We'll I guess it doesn't hurt to just try it out and see what happens. I don't have the motorized steering column or mirrors (but do have motorized seats).

ACTUALLY.. what I really want to snag is the passanger airbag switch. I know GM sold a switch kit that consisted of nothing more than the switch and a new seat belt, so I'm wondering if stealing this from the 2001 is basically like getting GM's kit. Thoughts??

Unless I'm mistaken, all C5 mirrors are electric. You have the switch already for operating both mirrors electrically. By replacing yours with the memory switch, you'll be able to program 3 different settings, which include both seat and mirror positions.

I believe that your 2001 also has the LS-6 intake manifold. You'll want that on your '98, too.

Sounds great.. why?? What advantage does it give over the '98?

..and can the 01 take my 98 intake manifold?

Also I'm no gear head.. that was my dad but I can manage pretty well with general projects, does this qualify as a simple project?

From what I've read, the LS-6 (Z-06) manifold was refined and put on all 2001-2004 C5s and should be good for a handful of horsepower. The swap is easy. Putting your intake on the 2001 should work, too, but both should be tuned after installation(s). Whether you want to stick someone with an LS-1 manifold may be another concern, though. I will bow to more knowledgeable people on this one.

sell the 01 as is and take the pile of money to buy what you want for your 98

if you start molesting the 01 you'll effect it's sale value which is still substantial
