Default Tire Time

Time for new tires for my stock Speedlines.....

I would like to get 305/35's on the rear...but only ones I see avail are Nitto 555's or Toyo 888's. Does anyone run either of these tires for street use? My concern is they only have a treadwear of 100. How long will they last with normal street driving?

Any other options out there? Looks like a 275/40 is about the only option for the front. I am worried that the higher sidewall compared to the 265/40 might look goofy with a 295/35 rear...

Thanks

I just did the RE760 Bridgestones in stock "Z" sizes and am really happy with them! I did do a set of Nittos a while back they were the NT05's they were OK, but did the 275 up front and did not like it at all, doesn't look right. Just my .02

what made you step down in traction? just not push the car hard enough to justify the shorter treadlife or the nt05? i have the re760 now and was considering the nt05 or possibly the ps2 for the traction. the re760 has decent straight line traction but they are kind of a scary tire in high G cornering. feedback is not that good and the limits are not that high.

as for the OP the 888 is the same compound as the nt01 from what most have gathered. nitto and toyo are the same company.

mileage is 7000-10000 on average. personally i LOVE both tires. would not be surprised to see you push peaks of 1.3G+ in corners on the 888. i rode in a GTR that had 888's on all 4 corners this past weekend and the grip was f'king outstanding

I do run 315/30/18 Nitto NT01's on four 18x10.5 speedlines on the track and they stick like glue in the corners......but for the street, I think I would like to see more than 7000 miles on a set of tires

how many miles per year do you drive? take that, times it by 3 and you should have a treadlife goal to shoot for

what's your current 3yr mileage?

I've had the R888's for almost a year now and 2000 miles. They are absolutely fantastic. A little bit of noise, but really not an issue on these cars. They're showing very good wear and expect to get 6,000 to 12,000 miles out of them. I purchased mine from two different places online that had really good prices. I have also driven through heavy rain with no problems.

Bottom line is that if you drop the car in mostly good weather and want the best all-around performance, get them.
