I have a 03 ZO6 Blk with a Retractable tinted Sun Roof in mine.... I'll have to get some good pictures and have Terry post um up for me...
Wickd1 and I are very Old friends and live very close.
I haven't never been able to come across a RETRACTABLE SUN ROOF ANYWHERE in a ZO6 or A FRC when researching this TOPIC!
I've been curious about how a sunroof would work in a Z roof. Please post some pics. I had a complete working electric sunroof from a Porsche 911 put in the roof of my '37 Chevy. Looks like factory in 1937.:-)
My best friend on here Z06DRIVER has a sun roof in his Z06 fully electric even closes when you cut the car off, very professionally installed and looks Awesome.Hes going to post up some pics on here soon.
I am in favor of the "spoiler" too as I have one on my Z also. In case anyone didn't know it, the reason the Caravaggio spoiler integrates so well with the design of the car is that it was designed by John Cafaro, who also happens to be the designer of the C5 originally. He was the lead designer on the GM Corvette team at the time, unfortunately he got moved to designing trucks now. The spoiler and other parts he designed were originally supposed to be GM accessory parts. He sold his molds to his friend, John Caravaggio.
BTW, I love the targa conversion. I've seen it in person and it is so cool. However, Caravaggio charges $6000 to do it and there are other things I would do with that money first.
Several years ago at the Birthday Bash at Bowling Green I saw the ultimate conversion that unfortunately never went anywhere. A guy had created a retractable roof for the Z06. It actually folded up and went into the trunk compartment. It was truly amazing and he had been complimented by some GM engineers that were also looking on about how well it was done. They told him he did a better job than the Caddy XLR roof. The problem was that it would cost $11,000.
I saw that car at Cruise-In V!! It was very, very professionally done!!!! In the evenings when we were all parked at the hotel, he would shut the car off with the trunk lid up and the top halfway retracted into the trunk!! Very, very cool!!!! However, forget getting golf clubs in the trunk as even with the top up, the trunk lid opens from the front......
I know Terry has asked me to post up. Doing this conversion was no easy task and not for the guys that cant take a cut on a car. Ive been building and modifying for over 17 years. I do all my own work. Im just glad to see someone who has the same love for cars as I do. I was not easy to sell that car and I do miss it like hell. But back to the topic, I was offering this as a service when I had my business last year. But no one was wanting it done, my business has since closed I have thought about it in my spare time, but the liability is to great. And it would have been alot cheaper then $6500. But im not on the forums to much right now, but will be checking my in box. Again Terry I look forward to talking to you more and hope you are enjoying the car.
I didn't mean this car, I meant the retractable roof system. Are we on the same page?
I understand what you are saying, but I stand by my original statement........definitely not that car.......definitely not that system.
For one, the car I am talking about looked completely stock as to roof line (no crease edge at the back of the roof), body lines, etc., etc. Yes, there was a fold seam that looked like a stock targa does on a coupe. Excuse me I mean removeable roof panel, not targa.
No, seriously, the one I saw at the Cruise-In had to be seen to be believed. There is absolutely no way it leaked, looked cobbled together, or any other derogative adjective that might be used there!!

I saw the exact same thing at a car show here in my town (Visalia, CA) last year.

Didn't coach builders have a hardtop conversion that did just that?
I'd like to see a Targa FRC with a full hatch instead of a trunk for easy Targa storage. (you'd just need to fuse the trunk to the rear window body panel and make a hinge and seal where the hatchback would normally be located)
What I have been thinking about doing is I have a coupe and what I would like to do is take a FRC or at least the glass and mod my rear deck lid I want it to look like a FRC but still have the rear deck lid lift like the coupe does if that makes sence
