Ken Hill is stuck in Byron GA at a Chevy dealer, his 01 had all kinds of lights come on while on I75. He got off the interstate and made it to a dealer, who closes at 1800. Mechanic says he can't get communication with codes. .
thanks in advance!

Ken is on road again. He got towed to the Chevy dealer with a flatbed, and they spent 2+ hours trying to figure out what was wrong. Mechanic pulled the body control module, checked it out, and it was ok, then when he plugged it back it, everything worked as it should. So they are figuring a bad connection there or a bad module. Bill was $260, Ken is happy car is back running again.
If I got this right, mechanic told Ken if it happens again, disconnect the connection. I don't know if vehicle will operate with it or not, this high tech stuff is way over my primitive comfort zone.

No,it won't,the run with the body control module unplugged. Your friend needs to locate a rebuilt bcm from Chevy when he gets home. He,ll have to take it to the dealer to get the new module programmed in order for it to work. I speak from experience. Good luck.
There are several ground points on our cars. They will cause various intermittent problems. Just loosen, wiggle and retighten - and look for corrosion....GDLK
Hey all! I want to thank Tom for making this post and telling what happened to my Vette earlier today. I'll post another post giving the details of the road trip we just took. Today was the last day of that trip.
We left Canton, GA just before 0900 for Florida and the car ran well and gave no signs of any problems. Gauges good, fluids good no issues. At about two hours into the trip and just before the exit for Byron, GA, the dash lit up like a Christmas tree. Reduced engine power, low fuel, tire pressure, serve engine soon an all the warning lights lit.
I made it to the shoulder and stopped. The engine idle sounded all right, accelerator pedal smooth and revved normally, still everything lit. I drove it perhaps 50 yards and no signs of anything wrong except all the dash warnings were lit.
I shut it down and waited a few minutes and restarted the engine. The same conditions - nothing changed. I drove to the exit and pulled into a Race Way gas station and parked. Shutting the car off and making a head call let it sit for maybe five minutes. It wouldn't start. I reset the messages from the DIC then ran it or codes and got a " no comm" for every series. Again the fluids, battery and visible components, fuses seemed fine.
I got towed to Jeff Smith Chevrolet and talked to the service writer Blake. I told him the same story plus the history of the past month where we took the car to New England and at that time we were 4000 miles into a road trip. By the way, when we hit Vermont our 2001 C5 Vert had finally been to all the lower 48 states. It also saw the worst road and potholes it has ever seen and must have bottomed out a dozen times while in the NE. NY area. Also, in the previous three days we did the Skyline Drive, Blue Ridge and Tail of the Dragon roads as its graduation present.
To sum it up, there was "no comm" when it was checked for codes and their mechanic, a good guy, checked each module. Thinking a bad module, bad ground, loose or broken wire he was pretty thorough. When it came to the BCM everything checked all right! When he reconnected it everything worked!!!
I'm thinking the connection was jarred during the trip. It had poured rain the night before and rained in the morning before the incident. All things point to the BCM but it showed no codes nor looked wet or damaged or fried.......
We drove it 450 miles and made it home without a hiccup. No codes* nor and engine miss despite more rain and the BS traffic on I75.
The bill came to $260 which included the flatbed towing fee. They had it for about three hours steady and let me hang around the shop while they worked. These are good people and honest car guys. I don't throw that praise out lightly.
My thinking is heat, moisture, vibration, voltage drop or spike interrupted the comm and created the issue. Its the middle of the night and I'll look at the other reference post tomorrow.
Code*. The P1341 fuel code popped up every 40 minutes during the trip when above a half tank and when cleared the gas gauge and check gauge lights went back to normal. (no, techtron nor SeaFoam works.)
In a day or so I'll post about the road trip and to say the least we are proud its been to the lower 48 states and has been maintained well and been repair free for its 81000 miles of service.
Its late signing off and asking "typo" amnesty because of the hour.... /Ken
Just finished washing the car inside and out and went through the engine bay, fuses, passenger foot well with a fine tooth comb and cannot see anything that would indicate moisture.
Last year I read the Bill Curlee posts and did some PM on the connectors and the grounds. I make my living under water and have some of the best dielectric grease money can buy. The grounds and the door connectors are good.
I've got to think vibration and after a month on the road and as my wife said maybe some bearing down on the floor board could have played a role especially after the LATERAL G's on the Blue Ridge and the Tail of the Dragon the days before.
So I'm leaving it as "who knows?"
To Sonny71, we went through Sloatsburg on "17?" You're right the roads are like mine fields.
KH400 What the mechanic said was (and I agreed) it could be a gamble driving the 450 miles I needed to get home. That if it happened again on the way home the best bet was to disconnect the BCM and the re-connect it seeing if it corrected itself again. The dealership could have made a lot of money off me and had me sitting there until Tuesday if they were not honest.
