Anyone else experienced this happening after installing a cold air intake? I have a SLP Blackwing and it has been on for about two months...about 500 miles. Just yesterday it threw a check engine code so I had it read and removed at O'Reilly's. It was intake air related. It came back on today while driving around. I hate to pay for a tune or programmer just to get this adjusted. I am really tapped out after buying a second set of wheels/tires for the track.
I had a similar experience- halltech stinger added on to my 02 in 2005.
(only engine mod)-
Had one or two lean fuel bank codes thrown until a year or two ago. then I started getting them a lot- before a tune I tried the honeycomb filter (by halltech- have yet to see that code again.
If these are your codes- might want to give it a try

What is a "honeycomb filter"? Is this something made by Halltech?

It means you are getting more air than fuel. Rich means you are getting too much fuel and not enough air.

Check to make sure you have all the clamps tight with no gaps. Please pay special attention to clamp around the silicone coupling next to the throttle body. sometimes you have to feel around the bottom by hand to make sure the clamp lines up around the silicone coupling. Also make sure that you have a screen on your MAF.

Huh? I just had the code read and then removed at O'Reilly's. The car is bone stock other than the Blackwing.
Previous posters seem to be right on - air leak or missing MAF screen. Although a remote possibility, inspect your wiring to the MAF to make sure it hasn't been rubbing on the S Belt.

If its bone stock, Im assuming that you have the screenless MAF that the 02-04 models have. Since your tapped out, get the Haltech honeycomb screen for about $35. Install the screen, then make sure the clamps are tight and lined up, ESPECIALLY where the silicone hose connects to the throttle body. This should solve your problem without paying $300+ for a tune.

+1 for maf screen. i didnt get a lean code on mine with the CAI but I put the halltec honeycomb in to make sure i was getting a good clean accurate reading to the maf for proper maf readings. Alot of memebers here said they got a lean code with a CAI and the screen fixed the problem. its holes are larger then the LS1 mafs and doesnt seem to be a restriction.
I've seen MAF screens suggested by dozens of people in various different threads, so I'm not picking on anyone specifically, but...
If the purpose of adding the CAI was to increase power, then why would you turn around and add an obstruction to the air inlet afterward? It doesn't make any sense to me. If you can't afford a dyno tune, I say either get a mail-order tune, or just put your stock intake back on. You can even remove the cover from the stock intake box for added airflow without needing a MAF screen. Just my 2 cents.
It's not at all uncommon as it typically increases the turbulence of the air coming into the MAF. You wanted a tune anyway, right? Your 2001 has a vastly different tune than the 02-04, I was shocked when I put the timing maps side by side. 2001 is more aggressive IIRC. Didn't look at fuel, but I'm sure it's different with different cams as well. If you're about to pull the trigger on headers, do it quick so you can get it all tuned in one fell swoop.

Mine is a 2001.

Did you install the Haltech screen others are mentioning?
