I'm changing my corner lights and there is a screw missing. I went to my dealer and they want $5 a piece plus it has to be special ordered. GM calls it a bolt but it looks more like a flange head screw. I tried Lowes and Home Depot with no luck. Keep in mind that I am not looking for the black sheet metal screws that attach the light housing to the bracket. I need the screw that attaches the bracket to the bumper.
Here is a picture of the 10mm screw.
Here is a diagram of the corner light housing and the screw I'm looking for.
Does anyone know the size or where I can get this other then the dealer? Your help is greatly appreciated!
I've had good luck finding screws and other hardware at the local hardware store. Ace Hardware seems to be better than Home Depot or Lowes for finding small hardware parts. Also they are cheaper than most other places. My previous trips to the big stores like Home Depot have been disappointing at best. I'm to the point where I go to the local hardware store first for any hardware parts. If they don't have it, then I'll try the dealer and just pay the money. You should know that the nearest Home Depot or Lowes is about a hundred miles away so my choices are limited. Back in the day when I lived in Sacramento, I found that what I've just said was true there too.
Believe it or not Sears Hardware is a good source, they seem to carry a lot of the automotive fasteners and and specialty items, much better than Home depot and Loews
I'm shocked no smartass hasn't told him to visit the local cathouse!
That was my first thought when I read the title.
After I got my mind out of the gutter I went and looked in the tool box. I'm pretty sure I have 5 or 10 of those little devils around here somewhere. I ordered them by mistake and figured I would need them sooner or later.
Come on Mike... Just find one that look like it and tap it up in there... It's not like you ever drive the FRC anyway!!
Trust me, I've tried everything I have and nothing works. The thread has a heavy pitch and everything I have is fine pitch. I called Mark @ Vettenuts today and he said he would call me back.
