A practical question for all you FRC/Z06 enthusiasts. How do you haul stuff home from Home Depot or Lowes? Studs, plumbing pipe, etc., will slide down through the hatch into the passenger footwell on a coupe.
Saves getting the truck out except for sheetrock and plywood - and is a whole lot more fun to drive, and even more fun to watch the expressions on the faces of people in the car park as you load up.
My vote? C5 coupe hands down the best looker - or a C5 vert with the top down. The FRC body just looks "chopped off" to me, and the C6 just added angles, and as for the C7 "styling" - really?
Coupe looks huge! Vert with top up looks great because it has the same lines as the FRC which is incredibly good looking! That is my take!!
At 6ft 2in tall, I can't fit in a C6, with any of the three different seats. My head scrapes the bottom of the roof in all of them no matter how I adjust the seat.
And I'm not a fan of the C6 headlights, I like the flip up lights. I recently came into a small pile of cash, and I had the urge to go look at a C6 again. Went and tried them, still didn't fit. Tried the new Camaro SS (52k the way I wanted it), they don't even have a decent lumbar support option for the seats (as in no power, or multiple bags like my C5 sport seats).
While both of these cars had more power than my stock C5, they just didn't do it for me.
I like the styling of the C5 better. The interior is roomier than the C6. You want more plastic than a C5? Check out the 2015 Camaro. Barf.
So whaddya do? You call up A&A Corvette in Oxnard, CA, and get a supercharger put in your 04 CE. When it comes back it's going to have over 500 rwhp, I keep all of my creature comforts in my C5, and I'll have more bang for the buck than either the C6 or Camaro SS options, for a shade over $8k for the supercharger upgrade.
No easy choice here, so keep one of each. I love my (now Anne's) C5, but I love my C6 too. Can't speak for the regular C6's, as I had to have the Z06 and I love it.
Whatever you get/have, just enjoy your rides.
I'm posting in here because I own a C5, just a general question.... do some of us C5 owners quietly and secretly wish we had a C6 or are you happy with the car you have and why?
I added a C6 to my stable yesterday -
It's a million times nicer than my C5 Vert.
Faster, more refined, better sound system.
I love my C5 for the manual raw sexy beast it is.
The C6 is just quieter and more comfortable.
Before I answer let me clarify that my C5 is modded with 18/19 wheels and PSS non run flats and Hotchkis sways.
That having been said, I've driven quite a few base C6 cars and C6 Grand Sports. In handling, ride and looks, our Modded C5 overall beats a base C6 or C6 GS.
I also have a fair amount of time in C6 Z06's. I would also like to own a C6 Z06 coupe to compliment my C5 vert. But after driving a number of C7 Z51's in a variety of configurations there is just no way that I would ever now spend money on a still depreciating C6 of any caliber.
The C7 Z51 is so far beyond any C6, C6 GS, or C6 Z06 that it isn't even debatable. I have a friend with a C6 Z06 with real track experience and he didn't believe anything short of a C7 Z06 could push his very cherry and beloved C6 Z06 out of his garage.
I let him extensively drive a C7 Z51 Coupe and a C7 Z51 Vert. His C6 Z06 is up for sale and he is placing an order for a C7 Z51 3LT coupe.

I love this, I feel like it's summed up super well.
Arguably though, I still enjoy my C6 way over my C5 *in general* - there will always be positives and negatives.

The problem with buying a C7 is that I would then have to look at it every day, and every day I would shake my head and wonder how anyone could have messed up the rear end styling quite so badly.
interesting you say that you like the more rounded look of the C6.... I see it the other way around. The C5 is rounded whereas the C6 is very rigid and angular.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder...I didn't come right out and say it but I like the look of the C6 better in general. I don't find the C6 angular at all like the C7 is, I guess you can argue that compared to the C5 it is? People justify their purchase I guess, but it is a matter of opinion and likes...I don't like Picasso's either and would take a free one because I find them hideous looking. The C5 isn't hideous at all, but I favor the C6 in appearance.

I wasn't challenging your opinion , rather just stating that it is clear to me that the C5 has the more rounded and curvaceous styling....we all know that looks are subjective and to each his/her own..I like the C6 and have driven one to know that it is an improvement technically as it should be..... just don't like it enough to make a half step up......

I don't think the C6 is a half step up if you look at everything they did to the car, especially with the LS3 in 08. I think a lot of folks us C6 owners too, get a little envious of the new car that just came out. kinda like the new phone fever people get. Honestly I just love this car and can't drive it enough it is such a joy to drive. Can't wait for the next big Vette show at Don Garlits museum in Florida!

Cheers!
I love my c5z. The frc is a great look imo and with the power of the z06 its a winner for the money. If i had the opportunity to trade up to an 08+ stick, even narrow body, for $5k, I think I would have to take it.
This is from a guy who was dead set on moving into a c7 one day, till the gt350 was announced, on paper it looks pretty hawt! Can't wait to see lap times.
I am all about bang for the buck, I have no c5 or corvette allegience, my corvette was 9 years old when I got it and it is still the most practical car FOR ME, I have ever owned. When something better comes along it will be replaced, though I can't promise there won't be tears.
Driving home yesterday, saw a very peculiar looking vehicle in the traffic way ahead, sort of a mish-mash of yellow and black. First reaction looking from way back was that it was one of those old Lambo kit cars. Caught up with it and it was a yellow C7. Those things are just fugly from the rear view. Which is sad, as that's the view people should see - if it was being driven properly, and not being caught by a Subaru......
