around here with that question but normally what i hear is people would normally only switch to a z06 not a base model c6

C5 vs C6
I'm posting in here because I own a C5, just a general question.... do some of us C5 owners quietly and secretly wish we had a C6 or are you happy with the car you have and why?

I like the C6. I can say that I would switch if the price was right. But I wouldnt switch for a coup. It would have to be a breezer. Dont get me wrong, I love my C5 and am not actively looking for a switch. I am just saying I wouldnt turn down a good deal.

cars are so similar.
i just can't realistically see how i could move into a c6 that i want for less than 10k on top
then the devaluation curve kicks in on top of that
c5's have for the most part bottomed and sell based on condition
c6's are still dropping
i figure in a few years the grand sport should be in the 20s and i may go that way, and or a cayman s

Just today I was adding up the investment I have in my C5. I figured I could have had a nice low mileage stock 08 vert for what i have spent. Would I trade my car for a 08 stock vert. I didn't have to even think about it for a second. No way, it's not even close. First of all, I like the look and feel of the C5 better. It's not a daily driver so I don't value to convenience upgrades in the C6.

Seriously, when my C5 was closer to stock I thought and wanted a C6 Z, BUT now it's just as fast and looks better.
I'd be an idiot to start with a plain jane C6 now.

The only C6s that I really would want to own are the Z06, ZR1 or a Grand Sport. Not all that interested in the base car at this point. Am really wanting to get into a C7 in a couple of years.

I've heard you say that before, but a stock C6 Z will blow your doors off.
Aren't you still on a mail order tune and no real numbers or ET's to back up your statement? & Assuming your car makes 420-430rwhp?
The C6Z is an all around better car..period.
Sure, MOD The HELL out of your C5, drop a HUGE motor in it to compensate for the lack of cubes. It still won't be a Z lol
But... Of course...as long as it makes you feel good ;-)
