Default What mod is next?

I've purchased a pristine 04 Commemorative edition C5Z...

It has:

AR 1 3/4 Headers
Callaway Honker
160 stat, plugs, and msd wires.
Tune

I'm looking to squeeze a bit more out of it but I'm not yet ready to go internals.

What are the other bolt-ons that are decent bang for the buck?

I'll seriously consider a mild cam later in the year, but I'd love to squeeze 400rwhp out of it at this point without breaking the bank. It's at 390 now and runs like a scalded dog.

Thanks...

You won't feel a noticeable difference when moving from 390 to 400 peak hp. Save your money until you're ready for the cam.

But, if you want spend $100 right now, you can send your throttle body off to Lingenfelter for a port job. It won't produce a noticeable difference, and it won't get you to 400, but it should gain some ponies at higher rpm. Really your only other option is a FAST intake manifold, but they're pricey and they don't gain us much until after a cam and/or head work.

Solid advice!

tires.

come up with a plan on what wheels & tires you can use to have the traction available to use the power that you already have.

UD pulley would help, but when you do your cam that will be much easier to get at so I would hold off pn that until later. If you have cats get rid of those...that's free horsepower. Otherwise, get some tires and make that car hook up.

Sidenote: Don't go for numbers because they mean nothing...what you should go for is optimizing your setup so that it works well, not so that it meets a number. Just my .02

It's OBVIOUS he wants more HP. He doesn't need people telling him to buy new rubber.

Just sayin'. Maybe it's just me.

To the OP - I agree with what was said already. At this point, you need to go into the motor before you get anything worthwhile.

Ported TB? UD Pulley? (still...better to do when you do the CAM).

quite frankly

that is absolutely stupid

if the car isn't set up and doesn't have traction all more hp does is make the car harder to handle and more of a white knuckle ride

I pretty much agree...but quite frankly;

OP's ask for something specific and yet many give them the blatant opposite of what they ask for.

Sure in most cases you're/it's probably right, but that's not what the OP wants.

There is a difference.

Thanks all. I've pretty much decided the cam I want is a G5X1E or something around those specs in a 114lsa. That would be a December/Bonus time purchase.

As far as wheels and tires - yeah, I'd love to "fix" my current traction issue but here's my situation:

I have a comm. edition and I don't want to get rid of the stock wheels or if I do I certainly will have to keep them which means getting new with no resale. If I did sell them, I'd probably get CCW 505a and some Bridgestone RE11 or something similar.

I DD this car so I have to be able to survive a rain storm. Though I have an alternate ride, I don't WANT to drive my other unless I HAVE to... The tires that fit the stock wheels are already limited. The bottom line is I'm still trying to figure out what/if I want to do anything there in tires/wheels other than just settle on my RE760.

Should I start a "definitive" thread on tires and sizes for stock wheels? I've searched and searched and pieced it together but maybe I'm missing something tenable in alternate tire sizes.

Please don't start a new thread... it's been beaten to death.
