Default what's it worth?

can someone please tell me if this is a good deal?

So we went to a local Hyundai dealer a few days ago and saw a beautiful black '02 C5z with 51k miles on it. Its completely stock, has new tires, and was just fully serviced by the dealer with everything inspected and all new fluids. The price was negotiated down to $20,995 but then decided not to go through with the purchase because we weren't too sure what the car was worth and didnt want to get ripped off.

what do you Guys think is it a good deal or not?

If the car checks out I think it is a good deal for a Z with those miles.

Sounds good if it's a fair weather car .. . less so if it's in winter weather country . . .

NOTE: it's a dealer, so you're going to pay more- if you're good with that-fine. You might also fill in your profile- maybe some local folks on the forum might know the car.

Sounds like a good deal, if car is in good condition (exterior, interior, and drive train).

The decision is ultimately up to you (the OP) but here is my advice: Car dealers sell cars for a living, have rent, employees to pay, and other overhead, and consequently always have to sell at a profit... they can't survive otherwise. This translates to inflated prices. If price is your main concern (which I believe it is from your thread), don't buy the car at a dealership. It is not my intention to suggest car dealers are evil in anyway, just the fact that basic economics requires that you will pay more for cars at dealerships.

I see you're new here but I can tell you as a **general comment** that the majority of guys on this board love and obsess over their vettes. Generally speaking this means, they are well taken care of. Check out the C5 For Sale section and you will see lots of C5's for sale and hopefully in the color you want,

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-c...s-for-sale-52/

I don't know what your ultimate objective with the car is but if you decide to mod it, then lots of people selling mod'ed cars. You can potentially save a ton buying a mod'ed car as mod's like blower set-ups sure aren't cheap. Some people install the mod's do it yourself but others have their mod's professionally installed. Ask the seller if this is a concern. Of course, always have a reputable mechanic check out your car before purchase.

I chimed in since you were concerned about price. Granted the dealer offers convenience over an online purchase.... There are pro's and con's but monetarily speaking, you know were my vote is. Again, the decision where to buy is up to you. Do show us what you end up getting and good luck.

It's probably a fair price but definitely not a great one. You're definitely not getting ripped off by any means though and +1 to everything Z06ster said, if you're patient then you will find a great deal but if a few thousand here or there isn't a big deal to you then by all means head back there and get it.

If it is not the color you want, keep looking. Even at a good deal, you may live to regret it if you don't like the color.

Not a great bargain, but a fair price. If it's what you want go for it.

A little high if you ask me. I have bought two 02 Z's for less. one with the same miles and one with 10k more. Both were in great condition.

That's a pretty good price. You'd be hard pressed to find a better price for a Z with that mileage around here. Honestly, if they drop their asking price to $21K, it will probably be gone. But, you''ve got to really like the car.

color is one of those things that you just don't go and change.

This is ok deal but not a flaming hot good deal.

I vote to keep looking if this is not the one you are in love with

Youre right the people on here take great care of their cars! and yeah that car might not be the best deal ever, just cant seem to find any other nice c5z's in that price range here in CA. Also posted a WTB thread in the for sale section but no replies. The only option is to just wait for one to come up.
