Default C5 Convertible top

Ok
Just bought my first convertible

2003

I read the owners manual, but what is the best way to get the top down
Are the windows supposed to be rolled down etc?

Sorry if this is silly, but I can just see me cracking the rear window on my first try

Also, any cleaning tips or products

Thanks

Unlatch. Pull up the front a little... pull up the rear a little, and fold together gently.

Unlatch the hatch.... move up gently... mine doesn't clear the glass always. Sometimes I have to fold it up a little more.

Pull up hatch. Put rear down gently.... fold front in gently.... close hatch.

Only part I don't like it the hatch rubs the fabric a little where the glass is, but it hasn't hurt anything.

My windows magically go down.

Came with my owner's manual. This is how I do it and it works fine for me.

Also watch that your seats aren't all the way back or the hatch cover will scrape the folded top. Windows roll down when you press the unlatch button.

Check out post #4 for the instructions
Wolfsteins RaggTopp is what always I use...Looks like you need the Fabric top kit (not Vinyl) it's about $30. Good luck with it

Congratulations on your C5 convertible! The Medium Spiral Gray is a beautiful color that really ages well.

The instructions above pretty much outline the process pretty well. A great first mod would be the "Window Valet" which allows you to press your keyfob to lower and raise your windows. It's a great way to lower your top without having to get inside the car!

I've never had a Corvette vert either, but that is one fine looking car you bought.

Remember to have the windows rolled down when you put the top UP, otherwise the metal frame of the top will hit the windows.

If the cover that pops open to fold the top down doesn't easily lift all the way up when you lift on it (the same way that the trunk lid lifts up all the way) then the gas springs are worn and should be replaced, which will also make it easier to take the top down.

Once you get good at it, you can put the top up and down from the diver seat.

Also, congrats! C5s are awesome cars, and the convertible are VERY well built. The C5 platform was designed as a convertible first, not as an afterthought, so the the frame is very rigid on the convertibles, stronger than most of its clothtop competitors.

Congrats on the Vert purchase.

I recommend a Window Valet for your first mod. It will allow you to automatically roll the windows up/lock the doors or down/unlock with a few short button pushes on the key FOB.

That ladder in the pic scares me.

That shouldn't be a problem because the windows roll down automatically when you push the button to open the tonneau cover.

I'm not familiar with the Window Valet. Can you talk more about this and how to get it? Thanks.
