Though this is our first Vette, it is about the 6th convertible. We love em. Previously we spent about 12 years riding Harley's. Now that we are older, having the wind in our hair and the sun on our faces without having to dress in leathers and boots, eat bugs and put your foot down at stop signs has became more appealing.
Such a familiar story I'm 71 and been riding Harleys for longer than I can remember. My wife had no interest in riding with me any more. A convertible was a logical choice. Three weeks ago I sold our Street Glide and two weeks ago I traveled to TN to pick-up a C5 convertible which I might add my wife has her own set of keys.
Things to do to make your Vette quieter:
1. Insulate the entire cabin and trunk area, including the doors.
2. Insulate the wheel well liners. This helped the most. I used Second Skin Damplifier Pro. The well liners come out easily. The rears make the biggest difference as the front's removable panels are considerably smaller.
3. A cargo mat
4. A trunk partition
With all of this done, my 'vert is about as quiet as it's going to get, and the stereo sounds better, too.
The first thing I did was to get rid of the Borla Stingers,I went with the 3" XS Power exhaust [catback] and then the insulation and now it is great with the top down.Get rid of the run flats, less noise and much better ride.

A roadster is a roadster, loud and proud! I absolutely love mine and the top isn't up very often. I bought one of those Wind Deflector pieces of crap thinking it would be a quieter ride but it was a total waste of time and money. Be happy with the wind and the noise, they're part of the pleasure! I wouldn't own anything but a Vette Vert!
Part of owning a breezer is the noise of the motor and the wind. Yeah ditch the run flats but then embrace the rest of the sounds because thats what seperates the breezers from the coupes.
... This also means C5 convertibles have great structural rigidity.
C5 vert is the first car I've had that, when I put it on jackstands all four stands must be EXACTLY at the same height or the C5 will teeter on the higher stand - amazing. And the C7 is somehow a lot stiffer.
wifes 2000 coupe with firestone run flats is MUCH quieter than her 2004 vert with goodyear run flats . that is why i'm doing this search , i'm looking for the best tire choice to gain some quiet [??] or is it lose some noise . i've found there is no overwhelming favorite in tire choice . also can't decide on runflat or non-runflat .
