For many of us older guys who have invested a lot of money in their car, to have it exactly the way they want it. They still gets thumbs up an lots of kudos from people, and people saying all the time, if you want to sell it, give me a call. Ill beat anyone's legitimate offer. we don't look so much at the offered [price] as much as we look at the cost to make another one personalized... Some Newbie here Laughed out loud at the 20K offer, then stated he would take that money and put it on a C6Z.. so you are talking spending another 40K plus the cost to personalize it, and in my case that would be another 15K... so for 55 thousand I would have a newer car that I could drive to the same places and get the same kudos. This is the reason I turned down 25K for my car from a very close friend. I just don't want to spend 55K to put the same smile on my face that I get now every time I pull mine out of the garage. Sure I could buy a New Z, but why would I

I love my C5 and have put a lot of time, money and sweat into making it like I want it, but if someone came up and offered me the right amount of money, I'd be looking for my next one.

I'm actually surprised to see you say that. You have one of the nicest cars on the forum. Definitely show quality car, what corvette would you consider if you sold your C5 Jack?

You see I thought the same thing, that is until my close friend of 30 years offered me more money than I thought it was worth. This friend of mine owns several restaurants but has loved my car for many years. His wife also likes it. My friend Mike initially offered me 20 K for it. He wanted to buy it as a surprise for his wife. When he offered me 25 K, I told him I would think about it and let him know. I thought long and hard, considering I have put so much of my life and design into this car with seven designs of mine. I thought about what it would cost to replace and what I would buy. So for you Vettman you might just want to think about what a serious offer would have to be, in order to part with your car. they say there is a price for every object. Everything has a price... I just don't know what that would be. I do know it would cost me 50K to replace it. That is part of the issue too... At my age and health it would be a selfish thing to spend 50 K on myself.
then get stuck replacing all the ten year old parts he's already changed on the other car
Very true, another good point. When you're buying another used car it's a gamble. At least on YOUR own car you have peace of mind that you've done the proper maintenance.
Maxx, sell him mine for 27-28k and I'll be gone!! There's a couple FRC's f/s or I'd go over to Boardwalk and take one of the GS off their hands. L8R ZFLASH
The poster stated he had some good mods, so 20-22K may not be enough for a garage queen and the mods. I can tell you a 20-22K offer would not get anything from me but a chuckle on my garage queen perfect 2003 Z06.
I really enjoyed my C5, but after driving a GS with an LS3 I didn't mind selling mine. The brakes, handling, looks & raw power of the Grand Sport had me sold!! At the end of the day were all still vette lovers!!
Grand Sports are nice rides. Basically a C6 Z06 with the LS3.

But that just means you haven't found the right price yet.
I haven't found it either. People are shocked when I say that for the right number I'll walk away from mine...... They ask what that number is and I candidly offer that I haven't figured it out yet. But anyone is encouraged to try to find it!
I'm also just looking forward to the day that I hang on to my ride, then buy another that changes every couple of years. I hope to not grow quite so attached in the future as I'm just not going to have enough garage.......

This morning I went out to the Houston Coffee and Cars @ Vintage park. I hadn't been out in a couple of months. Walked around enjoyed the cars and talked to a few people.
When I made it back to my car, I had a note stating to call at earliest convinience. So I called and the gentleman I spoke to was interested in purchasing my car if I'd consider selling. Spoke to him and filled him in on the specs, history etc. Before we hung up I said I'd keep I'm touch and think about it.
I walked back over to my car and looked at it (REALLY LOOKED AT IT) among all the corvettes there. 2 minutes later I came to the conclusion there is no way in hell I'd sell my Z. I'm pretty sure I'd regret it down the line. My car
does not have significally low miles (86k) right about now and the offer the gentleman was pretty generous. However, to me my car has more sentimental value than a price tag. She's my first corvette and I plan to add another down the road but not selling mine. I love it when people ask "THAT'S AN 01!?"Instant smirk every time . Or when I show up at a meet or show and there's 75% C6's and the remainder 25% are lower generations, it's a great feeling to have something that is not overseen everywhere you go.
The only time I was asked if my car was for sale was during a car show when I had my '66 entered in it. I have been asked numerous times if my '68 Electraglide was for sale. That was the only time for any car I've owned.
