This morning I went out to the Houston Coffee and Cars @ Vintage park. I hadn't been out in a couple of months. Walked around enjoyed the cars and talked to a few people.
When I made it back to my car, I had a note stating to call at earliest convinience. So I called and the gentleman I spoke to was interested in purchasing my car if I'd consider selling. Spoke to him and filled him in on the specs, history etc. Before we hung up I said I'd keep I'm touch and think about it.
I walked back over to my car and looked at it (REALLY LOOKED AT IT) among all the corvettes there. 2 minutes later I came to the conclusion there is no way in hell I'd sell my Z. I'm pretty sure I'd regret it down the line. My car
does not have significally low miles (86k) right about now and the offer the gentleman was pretty generous. However, to me my car has more sentimental value than a price tag. She's my first corvette and I plan to add another down the road but not selling mine. I love it when people ask "THAT'S AN 01!?"Instant smirk every time . Or when I show up at a meet or show and there's 75% C6's and the remainder 25% are lower generations, it's a great feeling to have something that is not overseen everywhere you go.
For 20 I'd walk too. You've put too much into the car, not just money but heart also.
I have to agree here. Some one made me an offer for one of my others cars a few days ago. They offered me 15K for a car I have 20 invested in, so my answer was no. I told him I was in no hurry to sell it & at this point it would take 30 to get it off my hands...LOL. So yes, I high balled him to make him go away, but you never know he might have been crazy & I would have walked away with a ton of $$$.
People like that are weird, offering people money for their cars. Especially corvettes. For 20-25K you can find all sorts of nice modded corvettes for sale around the country. No reason to try and talk someone into selling theirs.
I wouldn't sell it either. You'd probably just end up buying another C5 eventually. Why go through all the hassle and paperwork?

Exactly!
Thats what I thought to myself, if I sell my Z what would I get? C6Z? C6? That's not what I wanted orginally, if it were I would got one of those instead of my c5Z.
I think all you C5Z owners should think carefully before trading or selling.
The C5Z hardtop appears to be a unique design element to the C5 generation. The C6Z had similar body lines to the C6 coupe and I doubt the C7 will have a unique hard top design for its performance model.
I think a clean and well-cared for C5Z will always hold it's value.
If it were me, it would have been GONE. Had plenty of toys over the years, there's always a better one coming next. Get a good price for the old one and it's GONE. The next base vette will have more hp than and of the Z06's from the factory, that would be high on my next toy list.
I hear ya on the sentimental value (priceless), I've got my 1st corvette I've had for over 30yrs (77 L-82 4speed) that I should part ways with but just can't pull the trigger.
Needs a resto, that I'll probably never get to...
I had a 72 Camro Z28, at every car show someone would try to buy it. Years later when I wanted to sell I found the right buyer. If you build / keep your car right you can always find someone that wants your car and willing to pay your price. I'm not selling my Z06 but maybe that day will come. If it does I'm not worried about finding the right buyer.

I really enjoyed my C5, but after driving a GS with an LS3 I didn't mind selling mine. The brakes, handling, looks & raw power of the Grand Sport had me sold!! At the end of the day were all still vette lovers!!

Oh I have something in store for those newer vettes and the c6z's in the works as we speak. For a fraction of the price i can have just as much performance as the newer models and keep a timeless design
