Everything I've read says Jake came out in 2005, on Corvette's C6 Racer, with the "C6" Crossflags, not the C5 Crossflags.
Now there are C5 Jakes with the CORRECT C5 Crossflags (but not GM Trademarked), but yea, to me too, a Jake with C6 Crossflag looks out of place on a C5, but as usual, it's your car, do what you like!!

And that's exactly what it was, a "Punisher" skull that GM discontinued because of copyright infringement.. That first design came in conflict with "No Fear" line of clothing and accessories, causing GM to discontinue the "Punisher" and come out with it's own Jake C6 decal/emblem WITH the C6 Flag.
It was discovered that the original skull decal had been a logo sticker for the "No Fear" line of clothes and accessories. Concerned about potential copyright infringement, Corvette Racing officials commissioned a new design. Corvette-themed Web site Badboyvettes.com and Ed Jabbour of Kick Design in New York came up with a new black-and-yellow skull featuring a forward-facing look, jagged teeth, and a Corvette crossed-flags logo forming the eyes and nose.
Jake made his first official appearance, albeit in small form, underneath the XM Radio sponsorship decal on the B-pillar of the new Corvette C6-R racer during the 2005 24 Hours of Le Mans race.
I have a Punisher exhaust plate, I've never passed it off as a Jake plate.

To me, there is a difference, it's like the tomato thing. If I were to do a Jake, it would be with the C5 Crossflags, not the C6.
Sorry OP, don't want to take over your thread, so this is my last post, but like I always say, it's your car do what you like, it's fine with me.
S..t high jack it I got your back .... If I could find the right one I would be all over , I came close at the Classic ( carbon vinyl ) but the guy had already sold out of them ...
Here's my take. Seems like the loyalty to C5 vs. C6 runs pretty deep. Which is pretty cool I guess. I looked at it as a free decal that is the current Corvette Racing logo/mascot, whatever. What do you think the next Jake will look like when the C7R comes out? Do you think it will change? What if it doesn't? Hmm. Anyway, bottom line is it's a decal that can come off almost as easy as it went on - when my wife says to remove it.
Enjoy.
