Well I have tried to be a little different and not black (murder) my car out. So many of the sweetest looking TR C5's on the board have black wheels. I went chrome the first time and hated it. For me chrome just doesn't work. I had wanted polished or satin aluminum. Over the winter I got my HRE 547R's that are fully polished. While they work and the car looks more exotic now, still wasn't happy. The car is too showy for me. It's already bright red, does it really need more bling???
So I finally did the Plasti Dip. I first tried to just do the inner barrels and outer lip. I liked it, didn't look bad by any means but none of my friends liked it. So I went all black. I love it. The car isn't as flashy. Looks more track ready, agressive, mean. I'm sold. I plan to figure out exactly how I want them but will have them redone in black. Satin/matte, almost anodized black spokes/centers. polished Black inner barrel. The lip will either be polished black or the same matte black as the centers. I'm gonna go with the Torch Red stripe on the outer lip as well.
Question is, the rivets. Black or keep the polished/chrome. For now I will pull the dip off so they show shiny as an accent. I can also pull the dip off the outer lip so the lips are polished.

I don't know if it is an age thing or what, But in my opinion I think the TR Vette flowed and looks a lot nicer with the chrome, I feel that the black takes away from other wise great looking car. Just my opinion. I guess I am odd man out.

I'm with you . . looks unfinished.
But-- as we always say, to each their own - -
To the OP- I'm sure a lot of work went into that- good work !
It seems the younger crowd loved the TR Black mix. I had the same mixed reactions with my TR/Black mix. To me chrome screams I am trying to have swag. The all black makes the wheels appear to fill the wheel wells better too.

To a point, I don't think that the black takes away from the car, it does look more aggressive that way. The chrome just flowed better with the clear corners, badges, "corvette" inlays and tips in the back. The black lip is a very interesting touch, haven't seen that before myself and I kind of like it.
As far as the rivets, I feel like it would give a really good contrast along with the lugs/centers to have them chrome. But idk.

Mr. Bill, I believe it is our "age" that seperates our taste to the "black racing wheel look crowd". So I am another "odd man out"!
Either way "IRON MAIDEN" you have a very nice looking C5
Now that was seriously funny!
I had chrome and didnt like it. Went to these wheels in polished and love it. Polished over chrome for sure. But it did scream "hey...look at me". Too much for me and was almost embarrassing.. Then again maybe I just needed a change. This is exciting and new. Great response from everyone who sees it. I might want to go back later. Who know.
