Although the sportier look seems to be a better fit, i'd stick with the regular factory antenna if you care for reception. Or you could replace it with an aftermarket power antenna from Hirschman or Harada. The smaller profile antenna does only one thing, improve looks. You will lose reception, because now the aerial is no longer above the highest point of the vehicle. A company here in Northern California called California Concepts sells this super tiny, Chevy based antenna that fits just about any Chevy. A friend of mine works for them, has it on his own Camaro, and it absolutely ..... sucks. Everybody that has it, has told me how much worse the reception became. This will be true with any other antenna that's smaller than the stock. Hope this helps. If you'd like a nice antenna, try a factory Miata power antenna. Or you can try the amplified Honda S2000 antenna, but i'm still of the belief that the amplified antenna will not help with reception.
hey sounds kewl! a friend of mine with a MY Z06 had an awsome "shorty" antenna I ordered-got it in a wk. can I say where I got it if they aren't a forum vendor? email me and I will send you the company's name-they make other specialty corvette things:)
I installed the power antenna which is great!
Nothing left sticking up in the air that the auto-terrorists :jester can break off :D

There's a reason radio antennas are the length that they are. The antenna height matches the approximate total "size" of the radio wave (twice the amplitude). The power antenna gives you great reception when you want it (I installed a button that lets me put it down while the CD player is on), and goes bye-bye when you don't. The short antenna might work for some in strong signal areas, but it's not the best solution for most people. My radio sounds like crap until the antenna is all the way up. Of course, I might be missing something, after all, I'm no rocket scientist. ;)
WWK888, have you saw this at Radio Shack recently? I was in there about a month ago trying to buy one, and I was told that ALL Radio Shacks completely removed their auto parts inventory, which includes the antennae. It was even removed from their website.
I've got a short rubber one on my camaro, and my friend's is the long thin metal one, the metal one is really flimsy, i like the shorty, doesn't flex, BUT we get good radio reception here

It was awhile ago...a friend of mine is a store manager. I will check with him and let you know.

Awhile back, I finished a long rambling post about the so-called laminar flow issue in intake/air filter systems, moisture, specific heat of water vapore, etc etc etc., I couldn't help finishing up with "But hey, what do I know....I'm no mechanical engineer."
I shortened mine myself http://www.members.shaw.ca/tonyscott...enna%20mod.htm I did have it at 9 inches, until I put my car on my 4 post lift front first for a change, I knew I would not be able to lift the car as high because of my garage door, but I forgot about the antenna!! Bent the crap out of it! :mad Well, now my antenna is about 4 inches high! When I took my shorty antenna on our big trip through the U.S. I was getting up to 150 miles of clear reception on some FM stations. When I go to the mountains my radio loses reception around the same time as the stock one did.
