I have a love/hate thing going on when I go to a Show. Alot of
good charities to support, sometimes you run into a real vette
guy who knows alot about vettes and I can learn something.
Alot of politics and good ol boy winners. Judges that know little
or nothing about vettes or cars. A example I was at a vette show
and I was in a modified class. The lady judge looks at my 5 point
rollbar and asks "WHAT is it?", then did it come from the factory??
The judges ran in teams and her second explained rollbars to her.
I got second in modified. But boy was my eyes spinning around
with her questions........................
Sometimes it's not easy to enjoy the show.
Sounds like Florida! can't vote right - expect them to be able to judge right?
Florida can't vote right (by either connotation - correctly or right side of spectrum). Then again, Washington (DC and Seattle area) is as left as it gets so I guess we need to stick together

That's for sure! A wake up call and purge of these "elected' officials needs to happen next election! Washington can vote but not right!
I did the show circuit years ago. The surprising thing was what lengths people would go to win a plastic trophy. I finally walked away as it ended up that I lost all enjoyment of it. Today I will enter some shows. The reason... I get a great parking place and usually get a new t-shirt. I go, wipe the car down and enjoy. No massive stress, no 3 hours of sweating the detailing. I enjoy the show, talk to people. I go with no intentions of winning as the shows have evolved to participant voting, which means that usually the winners are from whatever club has the greatest attendance or whomever happens to be the most popular. Cynical, I guess, but it is the reality I see. So, go to the shows and enjoy doing whatever makes you happy.
This is the same attitude I have as well towards judged shows, however I find myself going to cruise nights more often since there is none of the added stress and bs that some shows can have.

Nice pics! It looks like a great show and you pretty much summarized my expectations of Florida shows as well.
I am still amazed at how many beautiful Corvettes drive the roads of Florida. I enjoy going to the shows and talking with other owners, etc., however I grow tired of seeing the same clubs take home the majority of the trophies just because they show up in force. It's gotten to the point that it's not your Corvette and what you've done to it, rather what color club polo shirt you are wearing that will determine who wins.
Simple math, if there are 120 cars registered and one club shows up with 50 participants, odds are they will take home the trophies in a partcipant only show vote.
What I find amazing is how many of the great, tastefully modified Corvettes go home without trophies, yet still draw the larger crowds.
As to politics, the time has come for congressional term limits. We need to move out the career politicians.

And quit giving long term retirement packages to short term politicians (4 yeas and retire package?)
Hmmm, MS, you have me quite curious. I don't recall taking that photo. Did you phtoshop one of my photos I posted somewhere or did you take the photo? That is certainly a flattering photo - THANK YOU!!!

I like the way the light and reflections play on that blue
This was a very nice venue. Lots of nice Vettes there. I took many pictures. I plan on going again next year. Here's another pic...
My Plain Jane '04 Coupe. They parked me in front of the Tower...
Thanks MS! I definitely recall your car while on my lap around the show. I love that color, definitely one of my favorites. It has depth and looks cool all while being easier to maintain than the darker colors.
