My 2000 FRC came with a latching cover for the center "hole", nothing on the two side holes, and a cargo net that mounts to the tailpanel via "T" hooks.
I've saw several 2002's with no cover or net. Both are very important. If you've never had a net, you've never gotten your groceries home in one piece!!
What will my 2003 come with? Anything? I met a guy with an 02 who bought the cover and simply set it in the recess area, no latching.
If no cargo net, has anyone bought a kit and installed it? My 2000 came with threaded inserts for the T hooks, so I don't know if this can be done without a little crafting. (which is fine by me)
I believe the 2003 comes with the covers for the holes but I'm not sure if/how they latch. Believe it or not, the middle hole, for lack of a better term, is very convenient to take home groceries. Bags don't move around once in there...
The center compartment is where anything loose in the back of the car stores itself. There's apparently a tiny black hole in there that attracts anything that's not tied down.
Groceries??.. it's what some of us use as an excuse to go for a cruise.... :D
:D :D
I know the most convoluted way to get to my local Publix...Since it's bad to go for short drives that don't warm up the oil fully...I have to take the very long way to the store. :blueangel: The one with very straight 1/4 long smooth asphalt on-ramps to a not busy highway...
Re: The most basic Z06 question ever.... (Bertrand)
Okay, so you bastiches have told me nutin' about the cover for the center hole or the cargo net....you've only picked on me :boxing about groceries. I'll have you know lots of Home Depot stuff goes in my car too, so THERE!!!!
And yeah, I've laughed with a few guys about how anything in the back automatically finds its way into the center hole....but if you have your tool kit and tire kit and pump and hockey pucks in there, you don't want to mix groceries with that stuff. Of course, the cargo net keeps stuff out of the three holes, which is why I want one on the new car.

Hi Tracy, my 01 TRZ06 didn't come with any covers and nither did my 02 EBZ06! :D there's one T hook that holds the tire repair kit on the right hole. I bought a partition from eckler's for 99 bucks, and whatever I buy doesn't slide around at all! :yesnod:

 This is so true. Everything I put in the back area slides into the center compartment.
Well I have had no problems with "my grocery" getter as my wife calls it!
My 02 Z06 has none of the above attatchments they did not come with the car I inquired about this and its another weight reduction very easy one at that! :D
From: Muncie, Indiana ...... Can I buy an amplifier on time ... I ani't got no money now but I'll pay you before I die
Re: The most basic Z06 question ever.... (tracy)
My 02 came with the four hooks for net installed. I bought a net from the dealer. Also bought the center compartment cover with latches and two striker plates. The striker plates for the latches were pretty easy to install. I didn't do anything with the side holes.
Re: The most basic Z06 question ever.... (The Corvette Junkie)
Junkie--Thanks for the info. That's interesting to learn about the four hooks being there....and how much sense does THAT make, to provide hooks and no net. Sheesh!
As for the center cover, I belive they can be bought for about $69, online, minus latches, but I haven't fully researched it yet.
As for all three compartments having locking covers.......somehow I doubt that...it would be a first, and for what reason? I'm sure that's not the case for the Z06, anyway.
Tire sensors working with sealant goop..... :D  :D
