NEWBIE....I know there are some C5 owners out there that have had the overheating problem,HELP ME OUT HERE BEFORE I PUT MY CAR DOWN!!....I have replaced the radiator, thermostat ,reservoir,Dex Cool Antifreeze, I live in Houston, TX in 100 degree weather. If I sit in traffic the temperature raises to 239-260" gauge pegs"....the only thing left to replace is the water pump which I don't think is bad, or replace the fans??? NEED HELP!!
I will try and do that also....I didn't do the Radiator work when it was replaced 2 years ago....I have had this problem since I owned the car from 2004....I was told that a lot of the C5's have overheating problems??
Sometimes burping does not get all of the air out of the system. There is a connector on the front of the heads that can be loosened to release any trapped air. I don't have the specifics but a search should produce the thread containing this information.

Many of those problems are caused by the radiator being clogged up with debris picked up from the road.
YES, I burped the system from the middle of the heads, and no air pockets what so ever....we did it twice!! thought I had to much DEX COOL in the Reservoir, which I did so i bled it until the DEX COOL was at cold/max line

It could be as simple as running over a plastic bag. I'm speaking from experience.
I don't know what level of skills you have, but let's start with the basics. When I say blow out your radiator/condenser cause they may be plugged up, I don't mean just look down there and check for plastic bags or big blockage of air.....it's not that obvious! You actually need to pull the air cleaner off and radiator/condenser shroud off and place a flashlight between the engine and radiator and see light shine through. Cause even if it's only 2 years that the radiator is replaced...it only takes a few times driving over roads with grass clippings to screw it up BIG time by stuff being picked up and being forced between the cooling fins.
I have to clean mine every 2 years cause I am in a rural setting. It's a pain to do, but try and verify NO BLOCKAGE!
I will do that 8VETTE7 and sfc rick, the fans sound very logical to what is going on and that hopefully will fix it along with what Rick said....thanks every one and I will get back to you with the results...."cross fingers"!!

I replaced my radiator last August and cleaned the condenser while I had ample room to do so. Both were full of grass and dirt when I cleaned them out a couple of days ago. It doesn't take very long.
