Just ordered a set of clear corners off that auction site and started to read a few posts about light bulbs. I want to make sure I understand my options correctly before I tear into everything to do the swap next weekend.
If I understand correctly the options are as follows in order of least expensive to most expensive.
1. retain stock bulbs--but potential to melt aftermarket houses?
2. LED bulbs in stock configuration
3. LED Switchbacks--Looks and functional awesome, but requires additional harness purchase as well?
I really wish the running lights were white and only the turns were amber. Switchback is the only way to do that correct?

Your options are correct but the LED Switchbacks are the way to go! They should come with a small resistor when you order them. And you can get the ones that are white with your parking lights on and amber when you activate your turn signal... They give an awesome updated look and are very bright. I can attach photos of mine if you'd like lol
JW Motoring and CorvetteMods offer switchbacks that I know of...
I had ordered the clear lenses too from the auction site. I had already made the decision to go with LED's to get a brighter DRL/turn signal and to not burn the housing. When i pulled my turn signal housings, both of them were burnt on the inside, one of them with a shattered bulb inside it. I chose the switchbacks from corvettemods for how they looked. with no lights on, they are orange, but with parking lights or headlights on, they are white. and course they turn orange for the turn signal. for your options 2 and 3, both would require a harness to return the turn signals to the right speed. cheap way are the resistors, my bulbs came with them for 10 or 15 dollars extra, but i eventually went with the harness. read too much about heating up like crazy. slightly more expensive, but its the way to go. I got my harness from radioflyer, they were great to deal with and i recommend them. I like the overall look of the new lights. made the car seem a bit newer. sorry for the long post, hope it helps.

After going LED switchbacks I could never go back to stock bulbs, I installed the LED electronic flasher and it was a breeze to install. Well worth it.

I installed an LED strip in mine that alternate between the DRL's when the turn signal is on, but unlike others I went all white for DRL's, strip, and corner.
Am I missing a version that provides DRLs in white when the parking/headlights are off but amber turn signal? I basically what to only see amber when the turn signal is in use. If not possible, then version 2 of the switchback seems my favorite options.
There are 2 bulbs in each corner housing is there not? One for DRL and one for the reflector/side of the light?
And what is the disadvantage of using the resistors instead of the harness?

There are 2 lights. Like you said one for the DRL which can be switchbacks in either color and the reflector bulb that you can also change to an LED. Depending on the clear corner you get the side marker/reflector might still be yellow....

Here is what I have on my clear corners.
During the day the DRL's are amber and switch on and off with turn sig.
When the headlights are on they are white and switch to amber when turn sig is used, Flashes white/amber.
The side reflector is clear with an amber bulb in it.

Got mine from CorvetteMods. Just need to get them installed.

Both LED bulb types require the hyperflash harness.
We carry them here:
This is really bumming me out. If the harness is "required" then why offer resistors for an additional charge?
Here I was excited to get the clear corners at a decent price, as I simply wanted to eliminate the amber reflector. Now I'm in for an additional $48 for switchbacks and resistors, and possibly another $65 for the harness. Geez...this car really sucks down the play money.

Owning a Corvette isn't cheap, You have to pay to play,
The best setup is clear corners, Switch backs, Amber side marker bulbs and the hyper flash harness.
You don't need both. Just order the hyperflash harness.
That's just it. I ordered the resistors yesterday from JWM and they shipped. It' s only $8 extra, but all this extra light bulb and harness expense was unplanned for when I ordered the lenses themselves. It just wasn't expected. I'll deal with it...just changes how I need to budget with the rest of my money.

Sounds like someone didn't do the HW, In the end it will be well worth it.

See if you can sell them here on the forum. Lots of guys looking for stuff like that.

You can choose between the resistors and the harness. The harness is the ideal solution since it addresses the problem at the source (The flasher) and there are no splice-in components that can get dangerously hot (in the case of the DRL bulbs)
